You guys might think I suck, because I am 29 and I like to play with Lego. I just ordered Lego Star Wars Rebel Scout speeder, Lego Indiana Jones Jungle duel and much more I can't even name them all. It should arrive tomorrow evening, and I will attach a screenie of the box, and another screenie of it out of the box. Everyone can see it. Whoever sees it first, second or third, will get a free Lego set from me.

Hehe, It's not wrong to be playing with lego, I do it all the time (Lego Mindstorms NXT, programmable robots!). Last thing I built was a scanner! Works pretty well! Only takes ~5 minutes for 1 A4 picture
Contest sounds nice.
How would you check who saw that picture first though?

Jeff

Playing with Legos is a great pass-time! I still play with Legos and K'nex on occasion, both are great building blocks! Well, K'nex uses rods and connectors, but you get my point.

I don't like K'nex. Lego is better.

Lego is a ripoff. At least here in the UK, it costs 2-3 times what the equivalent Megablocks model does. And with Megablocks you get a nice tin, with Lego you just get a cardboard box that rips when it opens.

Megablocks are the same size as lego. they even fit perfectly with lego and look exactly the same. Your thinking about Duplo.

Megablocks and Lego are compatible. Duplo is also compatible with Lego. (Don't believe me? Try it. A 2x4 Lego brick will click onto a 2x2 or above Duplo easily.)

i've always felt that Legos were expensive, but I've never bought a single megablocks set. why? because megablocks have too many specific pieces. with Legos, there is a large number of non-specific pieces so you can make almost anything! so, i'd say there is not megablocks equivalent of a Lego set i'd buy Legos any day over megablocks.

i haven't touched my Legos in a while... I have 3 huge boxes full of them, and a few sets still together sitting on top of my bookshelf. it's a bunch of WWII stuff including a Sherman, artillery, halftrack, and bunch of soldiers

Megablocks do have boxes which contain thousands of "normal" pieces though. I know because two 3000 piece boxes sit under my bed. Each was £12. Go figure.

Lego is worth it for the minifigs.

Megablocks are a lot lower quality than Legos. The pieces are made of cheap plastic, and they don't always fit together perfectly.

I would really call Megabloks the ripoff, Lego has been around far longer than Megabloks anyway.

Me neither...I have a ton, but I just use them for custom Heroscape/wargames terrain. They're great for gluing onto a custom piece to make modular stuff, and the weapons/tubes/other special pieces are good decoration.

Yeah, Lego bricks are made of a much higher quality plastic than megablocks. Lego bricks have a stronger fit and much more quality looking finish to tham. The sets are a lot cooler and not nearly as generic feeling.

Lego has better quality and it has better looks than Mega Blocks. Lego rocks, MegaBlocks suck. Their color sometimes don't even look like the same as Lego. And the Megablock figures suck. Lego minifigures look better and cuter.

So ever so slightly tighter tolerances are worth 2x-3x the price? That doesn't make sense.

Let's end it there because it's off topic.

I have to agree with Nex here, I've always liked Mega blocks better (back when I played with them), I did buy legos too, but I got so many more pieces for much less money and its not like they'd fall apart or anything.

Here's how to do decide which system (LEGO vs Megablocks) is right for you:

LEGO-
Pros: Stays together when you want it to, incredibly sturdy.
Cons: Stays together even when you don't want it to. You need a special piece just to separate some pieces, and your fingernails will end up shredded!

Megablocks-
Pros: Easy to take apart!
Cons: ... Because that usually happens halfway through you trying to build the damn thing!

That's only if your rough with the boxes! I've got all my Lego sets boxes in great condition. I've got so much Lego (Like 3 1/2 huge boxes) I love it! Also it's not to expensive when you consider how it's made! I've got a book (Now I'm a real geek ) that explains the whole process of Lego brick creation.

Now I want to get it out and build again!

Man, the old lego was the business but since the new dude took over the company they sell trash. Their designs are stupid, the decals are stupid, and it just makes me want to retch.

Yeah, the robot ones are sooo much fun. I even entered a state competition with a team we put together a few years back. Unfortunately everything got wiped from the little brick while we were running it or something, kind of screwing our team over.

Back when they were using the yellow RCX my team performed well enough in the regional that we made it to the statewide tourney. Fun stuff.

The mindstorms kits are so expensive. I can't justify buying it to be limited to using 3 motors. :\ I also read somewhere that it doesn't work with a lot of Lego pieces.

when exactly did this happen!? i noticed designs started to change years ago, and i don't like it. i'm a fan of the original legos... less decals and simpler pieces.

Guys, this contest is canceled. Why? Because most of you live in the United states, and I live in Canada, I will have to pay the C.O.D. or the taxes thing which is very expensive.
