21st Century Breakdown is the new GreenDay album, out today! Ive started listening to it, and so far, am not impressed. I thought this was going to be like a reboot of their older music, but it seems like another American Idiot.
Anyone else got this yet?

I thought this was gonna be another 'the world's ending topic'

I liked Greenday back before they started wearing make up. The music went downhill after that. (NB: I may be thinking of someone else)

That new single from the new album is pretty dull imo, I should imagine that they won't turn back to their older stuff and will keep on down the American Idiot route.

I think that the old Billy Joe Armstrong looks a bit like malcolm in the middle, anyone agree with me there? hehe.

If you see a thread of mine in GDT, please don't expect it to go anywhere.

If there was any doubt flashing snall was a geek

I've never like greenday, well their original stuff was ok but they've always been overhyped.

We're all geeks on this forum. Hence "Geek Culture".

I can't say anything about Green Day, 'cause that's not the kind of music that I listen to.

Swordfight! My cheesy little first game!

Hehe, Im a geek at heart, we all are. Well, after youve listened to the album 5 times in a row, its not THAT bad.... But I guess you get used to most things after awhile.

I pretty much listen to everything except pop + rap. Those two genres just piss me off endlessly.

I'm such a geek I called my kids version 1.1, version 1.2 and version 1.3
I'm one of those ninja geeks. You wouldn't really expect it and then pow!
The pow is usually just me saying something geeky though, not really dramatic enough to deserve an exclamation mark.

I thought it was about the entire world having a massive nervous breakdown, what with the recession and all that.

Har,har. And 12 wives and a butler to iron the crack.
Obese87, if you fire your butler because he can't iron the crack properly, do let me know. I could use one. Har,har.

If at first you don't succeed, relax. You're like the rest of us.

I've heard a couple of songs from it and my verdict is 'no' (or 'guilty' but I don't want to bring Judge Judy into this...she frightens me). Though their sort of music isn't the main sort of music I like to listen to, but I always liked these happy punk-rock bands like Green Day or the Offspring (or even Blink 182...though I've not listened to them since I was 14), as you've got to have something fun and up-beat in your music collection, Green Day was one of them, I mean Dookie was a great album. Since American Idiot, I think they just went down the depressed route of emo music, which is not to my taste and definitely not something I'd expect from a band who always seem to have the 'fun' and 'cheery' mentality. I'd ask them, "What have you guys got to cry about?"

I can't say that I like the route they've taken and the songs I've heard IMO are terrible.

The Offspring are awesome
GreenDay as now moved out of my A-list, and onto my dont-really-care-either-way-list.

The old ones? American Idiot? 21st Century Breakdown is in almost the exact same style as American Idiot...

I must admit their songs aren't as good as they used to be but I still like their newer albums. I like this kinda rock. If that's what you'd call it :+

Sorry to bump this thread from the dead, but I felt that this should be discussed.
I think that what Walmart is doing is total BS. If it has a PA rating on, it just dont SELL it to anyone under 18.

If the good lord had intended us to go outside or have a social life, he wouldn't have invented the internet.

Oh snap. That is super lame. Do they carry it online? That's where I buy my music from. :\

Anyway, they should still sell the Album. This is another one of those 'People overreact' kind of things with whole 'Entertainment is ruining our minds'.

Walmart just missed out on a lot of money then.
Idiots, they are so arrogant. You can't just order a band to change their music to fit your policies.
Glad greenday stood their ground, even if they are crap IMO

A bit more respect could be handed on GD's behalf, but rightly said, Wallmart have just tossed away a load of cash, it's not as if GD are desperate to sell it in Wallmart as there are plenty of other ways for their many, many fans to buy it.

Maybe I'm crazy, but my favorite album was American Idiot. I like their slower, more mature music. A lot of their older music was repetitive and hyper whereas I am a calm person. Just like I think I might like the new blink 182 more than before (even if Tom's singing sucks now).

Ok guys, I just got the new CD and I must say it is amazing! I personally think it is as good if not better than "American Idiot". I love it, I would recommend it to everyone!

ahhh, I remember hearing Boulevard of Broken Dreams and American Idiot back when they came out, I listened to those many, many times over, then........then I started listening to Iron Maiden and Symphony X and wow, almost completely forgot about them

I guess punk-rock was just never my thing to stick with, I prefer longer Epics and Progressive stuff, but I think I'm gonna go dig up my ol American Idiot CD and give it a listen (if I can find it)......

my taste in music isn't weird, its just so amazing your ears haven't quite adapted to it yet.
