I've recently been talking with lots of 'pro' indie developers over the net, and the one thing that has stood out (at least within the last few months) is problematic dealings with a publisher called 'Akella'.

They're Russian, and they do indeed publish games - they're not a 'fake' publisher (like those n00bish emails that went around a while ago saying "I will publish your game" etc.)

However, based on what these other developers have been saying, Akella have run into a spot of financial difficulty. They will gladly take your account details etc. but simply won't pay you. If they do pay you, they significantly reduce the quantity without warning (even after a formal contract)

So just be wary of any potential offers you may receive from "Akella". They're on the edge of financial oblivion, and probably have no interest in paying you.

I thought it was useful just to get this post here, especially since some people in the community have (or are getting) publishing deals etc.

Thanks for the heads-up.
