My rig can run Crysis at mostly highest settings. I bought W@W off Steam yesterday, and now, at mostly lowest settings, it is so. Bloody. SLOW! No joke, it's like it doesn't even use timerbased logic. I can hear sounds in scripted sequences several seconds before they should happen. I have this game for 360 as well, and it runs smooth as, but this is just beyond flipping joke.

I have a quad core 2.5ghz processor, HD Radeon 4870 and 3gb of RAM. I can also run the CoD4 demo at the highest settings with no lag. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

It's obviously the game, which kind of sucks (not the game itself, the problem ) - get to their tech support and check steam for any updates on the game and it might be worth seeing there's a tech support forum and people might have solutions to your problem already.

Seriously, I've been googling this for roughly four hours, I've disabled indexing, I've installed the latest Direct X...

If anyone can help me out here, I'd be extremely grateful. I payed sixty bucks for this piece of junk, and short of complaining and demanding a refund, there's nothing I can think of...

You could try emailing them - I looked around their website and pulled out their support email address:

support[at]callofduty[dot]com

It seems no offical forum exists, except maybe the Steam forum section for CoD?

If that leads you to any ends.

If you can't get any success, I suppose at least you have the version on your 360.

Thanks for that email, I've sent one.

I've been googling this some more, it seems that anyone with the same issue has a crappy laptop card.

Yes, but that doesn't give me back something worth the sixty dollars I lost, does it?

Have you updated all your drivers? I usually check for updates every now and then, especially if I'm having problems running something.

Drivers for what, DirectX? If so, where do I find them?

Sorry for such a simple question, I've never had to update them.

If you can get a refund then all you've gotten is hassle, though not ideal, it's better than nothing. Because of BioWare's poor support that's exactly what I had to do with Mass Effect (and am still waiting for that patch we were promised). Though I hope you do find the solution, but it sounds as though your problem is not a common one, making the solution harder to find.

With drivers, I think Venge is referring to Graphics cards drivers, I suppose sometimes that can be it - you should be able to get the drivers straight for ATI/AMD's website.

I'd love a refund, but Steam has a strict policy on refunds, don't they? I should refund it and get CoD4 instead.

I'm DLing drivers ATM, I'll post back in a sec.

EDIT: Installed, still slow.

Drivers might solve your problem,I can run COD WAW quite good at my pc (amd athlon x2 2,3ghz,geforce 9500gt 1gb,2gb ram).Updating your graphics drivers AND directX should solve it.For the ultimate directX package google directx 9 download and download it from a website called www.softwarepatch.com

Ah... seems all I had to do was reboot after installing the drivers. It runs silky smooth now. Thanks guys!

A mod can lock this now.

Glad you got it working! Although, to be honest, I do not like the game. =P

One sweet thing about Win 7 is the auto driver updater. This problem probably would never have been brought up if you had it.

Yeah, but I have Vista. I don't want to get the beta.

toasty - The game ran fine on my computer. I don't like it and I think it sucks, so I uninstalled it. My computer is only a tad better than yours:

Quad core 2.6ghz
4 gb ram
videocard: 9800 gtx+

and it was played at 1440x900 resolution. So I don't know what the problem was here, but I'm glad you got it working.

PS: It isn't cod5.

Well, WAW uses an improved version of the engine, as far as I've heard.

On minimum settings the graphics in WAW don't look as good as in MW.
