I was just digging through my cable drawer, and I stumbled across a cable that I don't remember seeing before... On one end it has a standard COM male connector, and on the other end it splits up into standard RCA - Red White and Yellow, as well as Black Purple and Grey... Anyone know what this is used for? I just recently lost my TV in my room because the one in our living room broke, and I was wondering if I could use this to play my 360 on my computer. Any Ideas???

Sort of like like except for instead of VGA it's a COM connector. (Didn't I explain that clearly?)

Serial COM port connectors(DB-9 and DB-25) on the cable end, are generally female. If it's a male connector it could be for a parallel port. How many pins are there on the connector? There are other connectors which also feature connectors which look similar to serial/parallel ones.

Here is a pic that I should have taken with the first post.

If you can't see it well, there are 9 holes in the COM end of the cable.

Since they are RCA cables they are most probably video R,G,B cables. The EGA graphics adapter now outdated had a nine pin configuratin similar to the COM port. So it might be an EGA connector carrying the Horizontal and Vertical sync signals also. Not really sure.

Apparently it is... kinda funny how it fits into the COM port perfectly...

Don't throw it away yet. It's perfect for interfacing an external circuit to the COM port signals.

I had no intention of throwing it away, I just thought maybe I could use it to display my 360 on my computer...

Use a HDMI - DVI-D converter, its the best way. Or use what I used to use: a 360 av cable to vga adapter, but on widescreens there are bars at the top and bottom (even when you set the resolution to the screen res!)
