Hi

I just bought the Penumbra Collector Pack via Steam, they're running a weekend deal: The three games that make up the Penumbra Trilogy for only 5€. I haven't played it for long, but I can already tell it's a good deal.

I have never played any game with such an incredible atmosphere. The game is developed on a very tight budget it appears, but MAN are the resources put to good use. Basically the game is an adventure with physics based puzzles, but at the same time with a hint of stealth games. You are fairly weak, so you'd want to stay clear of any enemies you might encounter. Anyway, this review is what convinced me, I suggest you take 5 minutes to through it, and maybe if you can spare the modest sum of 5€, buy the game, and support the small independent developer who made Penumbra, Frictional Games.

Just thought I'd let you know

- Freddy

I tried the Penumbra: Overture demo and I really didn't like it. It looked like it was made in DBC, and the demo was stupidly short that it gave you no idea what the game was like.

I have played Overture three times and Black Plague four times but I have never played Requiem, I heard it was quite bad compared to the others.

@ Benjamin
Are you referring to the graphics when you say it looks like it was made in DBC? I think the graphics are scarce, but effective. But maybe that's just because it was completely dark when I played it, I dunno

@nackidno
How is Black Plague compared to Overture? I read somewhere it's a lot better, but I won't play it until I finish Overture

Yes, I was referring to the graphics. Well, considering it's so cheap I guess there's no harm in buying it anyway.

@Freddy 007: Black Plagues is a lot better than Overture, you could say that Overture focuses on the feel of isolation, while Black Plague focuses on panic and "cute puppy" up your mind. ^^

Black Plague is much more gritty than Overture too.

EDIT: Sorry!

Thanks for the tip, I have been thinking about getting these games for a while but having just bought a house spending frivolously is not something I can afford to do at the moment... but 3 games for 5 bucks (maybe a little bit more once the currency conversion kicks in) is a pretty sweet deal

Are you sure it's 3 games? The Steam store only lists 2. I bought them anyways, even though the first one was ridiculously hard

Steam is deadly in lots of games - in fact, I'm certain there's a section in the original Half-Life with killer steam

One of them comes with its expansion.

As a matter of fact I knew it was deadly in this game, only I timed my movement wrong and got hit by it.

I know the first 2 games from the original release and by then it was more than impressive.

but now after Bioschock and Stalker its not so hot imo.

but I toyed around with it again after I started FPSC and have to admit that Penumbra looks like somthing very close to what is achievable with FPSC

In case you find my grammar and spelling weird ---> native German speaker ^^
