Well tomorrow's the day I take my final exam. I passed the Theory test, and I have been driving non-stop this week, but still, I'm still worried I won't pass it. Today I had another drive with my instructor, and I made 2 mistakes in parking sideways, the 3rd time doing it right! And here, 1 mistake = 5 points! I had 2, that means 10 points! 2 more mistakes and I can say bye-bye to my license. I drive well in town, and outside of it, but still, I'm really worried! Did you guys take your drivers license exam? How was it? Any tips, or?
P.s in Romania, you have to be 18 to take. I know that in some countries you have to be 16.. just wanted to let you know.

In India you just have to drive up a straight road and turn around (without having to drive back).

I'm in the UK, WE also have a theory and practical, I passed the theory with full marks, but practical I only passed 2nd time, but they say 2nd time passers are the best! (the first are too cocky, and 3rd time or after means you're just rubbish )

i think it's good to drive as little as possible before the test. I didnt have access to a car before doing my exam (except during lessons). As time goes on you become more complasent, forgetting to check blind spot more often etc.

Lol I'll just move to india tomorrow then xD! I passed Theory with, almost, high marks! Thing is, if i fail practical, then I'll have to take the theory one again... a month and a half later! I'm really nervous.

I'm in the UK, and I scraped the theory test (first time), but I didn't revise . I passed the practical test second time, the first time I reversed around a corner but went onto the pavement.

When you are reversing and you stop moving, don't assume its a bump in the road, it is probably the pavement .

Try to stay calm, I found that difficult and by the end I was covered in sweat. Probably the most stressful test I'll ever do.

Thanks for the tips Michael. Hopefully I'll pass it, and if I will, then I'm off to UK to give you guys a bear, or soda )! Cheers.

Passed the theory test on first try ^^ Practical on second Only advice I can give you is just try to stay calm and focus on what's ahead of you Might sound obvious, but it's actually possible to be so nervous that you put all your focus into... being nervous, and then you might make mistakes that you wouldn't have made otherwise because you're not paying attention to whatever situation might be occurring infront of you.

35/35 (or was it out of 30? I forgot but i know its changed now)on my theory, all i did beforehand was learn the stopping distances, the rest is mostly common sense. Passed second time on the practical, i got failed for a stupid reason on the first. I got a major for not looking in my left hand mirror when going round a single lane roundabout, even my instructor said it was a pointless reason to fail me as you have no need to look in that mirror.

You got failed for not looking in your mirror... That's harsh! I failed my first driving test because the examiner was in a bad mood. I drove much better on my first test than on my second one which I passed. I still say to this day that he had already failed me before we got into the car...

That was before the written test was introduced though. I had to do the written test before taking my motorbike license which I said was stupid as I already had a driving license. Anyway, I passed the written test first time it was easy. I passed my motorbike test first time too.

I just drove for my very first time about a week ago! I should have my permit in about 4 weeks, then 6 months after that I'll be able to take my test and fail miserably.

I don't remember ever taking any kind of written theory test, and we never had to do sideways parking in the practical. Just remember, don't drive like a normal person, instead just obey every minor rule and detail, no matter how ridiculous or impractical!

I scored 100/100 on the written test and almost aced the driving test but I knocked over one cone in parallel parking. I'm actually quit good at it, but I couldn't see the stupid small cones. I don't like to parallel park anyways. I go out of my way not to do it. I don't like holding up traffic it's just dumb IMO.

Haha thanks for sharing guys. I feel a little more confident now, and it seems it's not the end of the world if I will fail my first try!
@Yodaman Jer: Agw , hopefully rats will be a different case.
@Sid 100/100 that's nice! We have 26 questions here! Passed 23 of them, failed 3 because I wasn't paying attention.
@Oolite, a friend of mine got passed because the instructor was happy that day! And another got failed because he said:
"Fasten your seat belts, we're taking off!". The instructor made him stop on the right side of the road after ~200 meters, saying "Land this sh*t, I'm bored". :\! So i guess mood is kinda important!

Well, I failed it! Seems the cop wanted me to fail since, he pointed out as bad everything I did! He said, stop on the right, i signaled right, and stopped my car! He goes "You should have signal right"! I was signaling right, you could hear the "beep" sound made by the car :\! He then takes me trough a junction! I get in, after letting those that had priority to pass, go, and there, right in the middle, is an idiot with a bike! I signal him to pass since he has the right, he stays put, and signals me to go! Again, i signal him, he doesn't move, so I asked the cop if I should pass! He doesn't say a word, and I take that as a yes, and start my car! BOOM, instant FAIL!

Sounds a little bit like a flying lesson I gave a while back. The students asked me to demonstrate correctly turning the aircraft, so when I began to use the rudder to correct the yaw balance, before turning, everyone went off at me, accusing me of turning the aircraft with the rudder (which is a big no-no).

In your case, that's really weird. It's pretty clear that the "mistakes" that you listed weren't mistakes at all - you did the right thing.

@AndrewT
Your just a little bit ahead of me, I'm driving for my first time today! Four weeks? How many weeks does your class have? Mine only has three.

I'm not really nervous or worried about how I will drive just anxious. Four hours from now...

On my first driving test I shifted from 1st to 3rd gear without going to 2nd gear and failed.(1956)
The last time, I gave them my license and they added motorcycle to it and I bought a motorcycle. (I had motorcycles before all the way to the big Harley.
Once I had to drive around for a long time until I finally realized they have to write something so the next time he asked me to back up, I just threw my arm over the seat to look behind and he said okay. (That is a no-no.) Lost 3 points and got the license.
Goodluck to all the new drivers. The road is more crowded than it was back then.

If you were driving a car, then there's nothing wrong with doing that. If you want to accelerate quickly its a good idea to floor it and go straight from first to third. I'm pretty sure my driving instructor told me to do this, but I might have imagined it

I think you got it backwards.
Downshifting from 3rd to 1st is okay.
Upshifting to keep from revving up the engine is a no-no or at least it was back then. I started out on a level road in first and the first time I shifted it was to third.
(I was using my Dad's fairly new 1955 Ford. He had bought me a very big Oldsmobile 98 4 door sedan with an automatic which I was better at. I used it the next time and passed.)
