I now am running a 2.4Ghz Intel Celeron, with a Nvuidia GE 5500 video card. I have 80Gb on one drive and 40Gb on the other.
I am going to run Dark Game Studio as soon as it arrives. I also notice that Leadworks want a GE Force 8800 video card.
What would you buy if you were putting together a good CPU?
Right now, I cannot run some of the games that people post on these forums. (Probably doing something wrong.)
I only do this every 6-10 years.
Also I am not wealthy.

When you say CPU do you mean computer? (CPU stands for central processing Unit meaning the processor.)

If not here are a link to a processor I would suggest you buy and a video card.

Intel 2.8GHz dual core-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116091

Geforce 8600

If you want to build a whole new PC I can help you with that, the parts above are just a new video card and Intel dual processor.

Believe it or not you could build a whole new computer ( a good one) for around $300-$350 dollars, you just need to know the basics of what your doing and know how to read a manual.

If you were building and didn't have much experience then the simplest option would be to go for a barebones which aren't that expensive and already come with a case+motherboard+PSU.

That's a bad deal. My brother bought a quad-core 2.4GHZ Q6600, a GeForce 9800 GTX+, 4 GB of 1066 MHZ ram, a sweet motherboard with built in 7.1 surround, and 250GB of HD space, all for about $400 US dollars which is about 286 euros.

Well you're not in Europe so you're not tax raped. To be honest, in the UK that wouldn't get you a decent new desktop PC full stop unless you built it yourself and had a great deal of leftover parts.

What I am concerned about is, the Leadworks program requires a GE Force 8800. I thought the higher the nuber, the better the card ( 9500 better than a 8800).
I also do not understand the dual core concept as that has come out since I have had this one.
I am figuring on about 2GB of RAM to keep things moving and 400Gb of Hard Drive.
I think the processor and GE Force card are the big things I do not understand.

Ok if you want to build a new computer just say the word and ill throw together a group of links.

An 8800 gt is better then an 9500 gt, the 8800 gt is just as good as a 9800gt.

Dual core means two cores, think of each core as a horse thats pulling a carriage when you have one horse its gonna get the carriage moving, when you have two horses its gonna help it move faster.

Intel Core i7 920. Dual processors are a thing of the past.

Actually there not, most programs are only programed to run on 1 or two corea.

I think I will wait until my package with the programs arrives so I can see what I need. I cannot find a list of requirements for Dark Game Studio. I guess you just have to go to each program and see what is required.
I probably have enough for them.
I do know that I need more ram to make it run a bit faster.

Be careful, motherboards only support a specific amount of ram. If your computers old it might not support the new ram.

I think everything inside the case will probably be replaced and the one I am using will be passed on to my 5 year old.(He just made a Ben10 game on the internet and posted it.)
Mine will probably be a game making machine purchased from here (Philippines) component by component.
Are the requirements for making a game more than for playing it?
I am not cetain what is available here and don't want to look until I know what I want. They will tell you anything for a sale in most stores here.
