Hey all.

Dont take this the wrong way DBP users, but I personally would like to see TGC and Forum members spend just a little less time on DBP and a little more on DBC.We need some tools/functions. I\'ll be commin out with a Pack soon, like obese87, but we need mor than that. If I understand correctly,(which I most likely dont)the newer Cloudwright, Genetica, and Tree Party are not intended for use with DBC. The models on the Game creator store are not. Dark AI And Dark Phisix were designed in(I belive... ) and for DBP. And what made me write this is the fact that DarkNET Is uncompatible with DBC......Us DBC users need some products from TGC,too.

DBC Users, you with me on this?

I agree, IMO DBC is better and more user friendly for me. I would love some more packs for this to open up new DBC possibilities. Plus, think of it, what is going to happen to DBC when DBP x10 comes out? It will be left in the dust.

Edit 3}(Man, will some one else post...?)
3d Cloth and physics are an intergrated part of DBP >7.3 now.....DBC?..........Nothing.

Cloudwright and Genetica just make 2d image files that could even be opened in MS Paint, Tree Party is indeed DBPro only, the Game Creator Store models are (as far as I know) .X files (which CAN be loaded in DBC), and Dark AI, Dark Physics, and DarkNET are indeed DBPro only.

Personally, I don't understand why you would buy DBC when DBPro is only a little more. The relationship between DBC and DBPro is similar to the relationship between C and C++. The latter is pretty much the same as the former except much more powerful and expanded in every way. Unless you have a computer that is truly ancient (like if it has Windows ME), there's absolutely no need for DBC.

There was an extension pack made; DLLs, networking, etc. are all part of those extensions and after 1.13 they were released for free.

What I'd really like to see though, is Dark AI And Dark Physics DBC compatible. After that, I'd keep my mouth shut.

Not the Evochron games.

But yeah, those games have full physics and AI. I don't have a clue what DLLs the guy uses, but I'd imagine it says somewhere on his site (just Google "Star Wraith" and it'll be the one at the top).

So #1: DBPro is pretty much 20x the language that DBC is, and #2 DBC isn't that neglected.

Well, it's kind of silly to not want it. And DBPro is much cheaper than Dark Physics!

EDIT: Okay, DBPro is a little more expensive. But we're not talking about 100s or 1000s of $ we're talking about 10s.

Dark AI might be possible in DBC, but I fail to see why TGC would spend the time it would take on such a conversion. Time that they could be using to improve DBPro.

I think that there is some kind of misconception about the difference between DBC and DBPro. DBC is pretty much DBPro except based off an older version of DirectX and with none of the advanced features. Not to mention the joke of an IDE that DBC has.

You have to understand that products cannot be supported forever. There comes a time when a product must be pushed aside so that focus can be placed on newer products and upcoming technologies. DBC is slow, outdated, and currently has a significantly smaller active user base than DBP.

You also have to understand that FPSC has been TGC's flagship product for many years now, and since it's made with DBP, DBP (as well as FPSC) has been the focus of their development.

So, in other words, you'll have to make do with what you have. Eventually DBP will become unsupported as well, and TGC will have a new product on the market. This cycle will repeat for as long as TGC can sustain business.

TGC needed to make DarkAI for DBC and DBP in the first place. I own both DBC and DBP but I like DBC better.

No, it's not. Just because there have been some impressive games made with it doesn't mean it's just as powerful. It uses DX 8.1 and it's interpreted. Furhthermore it has far less (if any?) support for shaders and plugins.

I'm assuming you're around the age of 14 so I'd say, get a job. However if that's not the case then you'll have to find a free game dev solution. Ogre3D for graphics + SDL for input + PhysX for physics + OpenAL for sound = win!

@Dark Dragon - The mods here have no say about the prolonged support of TGC's products. If you want something done, email the company.

Companies can't support a product forever, because it will not stay profitable. Microsoft does not still support Windows 3.1, do they? DBP is more powerful than DBC, and is newer. DBC is still very capable, but it is not the first priority. When's the last time you saw a T3DGM update?

And please quite posting here every 10 minutes asking the same question. This is not a riot forum. Ask a question, then WAIT for an answer.

It seems that this is like your computer. When it gets old you need to upgrade to be able to stay with the group.
The next move up from DBC is DBPro.
Save your money, buy Dark Game Studio (You get them all).
After that you will probably need to upgrade your computer.
The old 1.44 floppy disks are getting scarce these days but, they used to hold all our files.
Times change.

How can you not afford DBP? Isn't it like the price of an xbox game? You could ask for moms for GTA 4 on Christmas but you couldn't grab DBP?

Just kinda odd as it doesn't cost thousands to license like 3ds max and if you're serious about programming then you might as well do it.
