'What do you throw away when you need it and take back when you Don't'

*Maybe alot of you already know this! but i will tell the answer in a few hours time have fun guessing!

How is it an anchor? The OP said: "What do you throw away when you need it and take back when you Don't", Yes you throw away an anchor(on crappy small boats), but you don't do this when 'you need it', you throw it away when you need to anchor and take it back when you don't.

Thus Benjamin is the closest to being correct so far.
