First out, yes, I realize this is a pretty worthless thread. I thought it was quite funky nonetheless.

So, I'm playing around with some cellular automation (I've got grand ideas that need exploring ) and got this rendition from the extremely simple set of rules displayed in the image.
I thought I'd threw it up here, seeing as it mimics a 3d shaded effect pretty nicely in my opinion.
I must say I didn't expect this result, but rather just lines and triangles at such a low low rule level.

could you imagine playing a game where all the backgrounds looked like that? What a headache! It's cool though.

Hah, indeed. I read up about potentially making music from these systems and decided to try it out. Well... when applying certain musical rules (scale constranation, etc.), it can at times come up with some sort of überjazz. Way to random to actually be good enough for a source of random background tracks in my opinion though, even though it isn't technically false or off-beat.
