As I play any game, the mouse and keyboard just stop responding, the game continues with the previous function I used. Like, if I am holding Accelerate, and it cuts out as I move the mouse, the mouse will continue to move like that and the vehicle will keep accelerating. I have no idea what this is, but it is very annoying. I have used google and searched for a while, but had no luck.

thanks

You know I've noticed some weird issues with Trackmania Nations Forever, you'll be going around a corner then all of a sudden the keyboard just stops registering. I wonder if there's something nasty, like a rogue keylogger that is causing problems, and so badly coded that it doesn't cause the problems it's supposed to so might not be picked up by anti-virus software, if all the software can do is crash the keyboard buffer, then a lot of virus protections will just ignore it.

I haven't noticed it in other games, but I haven't played many other games recently. Maybe I should make a keyboard test, like wait for the left cursor to be pressed, then record any instance where the key stops being pressed - then jam the damn think down and leave it to simmer. I don't care about the trojan, I do care about my lap times .

I dont think it is a virus, I have done several scans. In fact, I'll do one now just in case. BTW, my specs are:

2Ghz AMD Athlon, overclocked to 2.1Ghz
1gb DDR1-400 ram
128mb 6600GT Limited Edition AGP (i think its 450mhz)
80gb IDE (main drive), 120gb sata (secondary drive), 250gb USB

thanks

It's not batteries dying on a wireless keyboard and mouse is it?

Similar problem on some older games was caused by the keyboard buffer filling. After about five seconds, the keyboard thinks you've fallen asleep on it and cancels the buffer.

It could be that something is activating in the background, and so the window loses focus. Some full screen applications don't do well when focus is taken away from them.

Are your keyboard and mouse wireless or not?

My keyboard and mouse are not wireless, they are USB. And I am using the mouse and keyboard all the time during play. Oh, and BTW, I did a virus search and there were 30 trojans. I have deleted them and I will tell you it it is fixed.

I know the BSOD problems are gone

thanks

Nope, the problem is still there. but this time, I was playing GTA SA and tapping W to speed up my bike. Suddenly the bike steers randomly and the mouse moves around. It lasted for 10 seconds before I had control again.

If you had 30 different trojans, I would not trust your AV's ability to remove them properly, as it has likely also been compromised

Yes, format and reinstall Windows to be 100% sure. Process of elimination.

Jeku, yes I will do that some time soon. The install on that is almost 1 year old.

thanks

I don't know how people last that long...
maybe I'm just a sloppy computer user, but I feel like my computer gets so cluttered after 6 months I can't help but backup, format, and reinstall.

Also, I don't understand how people get so many viruses. If you have proper security installed and you don't download anything ... illegal, you should be fine, right? I mean, I've never had a problem. Maybe I'm just lucky?

I'd recommend a simple test to see whether it's your computer or someone at the other end of the internet by trying to play GTASA or TMNF singleplayer and unplugging your network cable to see if it still does it at some point. Another method of doing this is when it does happen and you're on the internet, unplug your network cable half way through and see if it stops.

I know how frustrating problems like this can be, I used to have one where every 5 seconds or so, I'd lose a few frames of rendering on random games... it was so distracting. (So I formatted) - Now I'm just left with a stupid problem that means rendering in Open_GL makes my mouse feel like an analogue controller... (it doesn't move properly.)

It's nothing to do with GL, since it has no concept of input or motion. Whatever game or app is making use of it is either not working properly, or is applying input wrongly to the type of camera being used.

You may have a poorly written (or completely broken) driver for your mouse which is trying to 'enhance' gameplay somehow, but is failing when it comes to non-DirectInput/DirectX games (like some of the MS mice come with 'Game enhancements' for precision etc.).

I'm talking about single player in GTA SA. where I'm driving and suddenly all goes wrong - my Plymouth Cuda flies uncontrollably into a brick wall.. all by itself.

What I like about this video card (if it has some reason to all this) is it can run ENB Series, and it is equivelent to a 7600 performance wise. My laptop couldn't run ENB Series no matter what I tried. the only problem I have with it is overheating.

thanks

@ David R
Yeh, I don't actually think its Open_GL, but it definately isn't right whatever it is.
Examples of what do and don't work:
* Half life installed from CD will work properly (but crashes for a different reason)
* Half life on steam from a previous installation of windows (just coppied from my last format) will be all slow and smooth
* Games like CoD, CoD4, any of the Source games (anything normal) it works fine on
* GTA SA menu has the slow smooth mouse, but as soon as you start the 3D part of the game, then come back to the menu, it's fine.

The only way to get Half life (Opposing force and Blue shift) on steam working is to run them in software mode.

@ GamerDude
Yeh you've already told us what it does wrong - have you tried any of the techniques I told you to rule out whether it's a virus or your computer that's doing it?
