Here it is!!!! Finally it's done!!!!
16 cars, 15 track, 2 difficulty levels.

This was a study for matrix editor, and finished in a funny and intresting game.Tell me what's your rate.
( go to members.xoom.virgilio.it/ermesjr )

Out of topic:
Now i'm developing a little clone of "ARMORED CORE", bsp editor of mine, parts of mech to assemble and start the battle. The beginning is good.

cheers.

I suggest you expand the sky box, have less-smother terrain, you know, bumpy with hills, and a little bit faster.

yes, less-smother terrain is a good idea.Speed??thats a toy race, so i made it not so fast.FPS of the game, however, is very high (100+ fps with a pIII 850 mhz, 32 mb videocard)

I'm developing now a terrain editor with different height and object sliding collision.
ground of the next game will not be so flat!!!

....anyway mattman, thank you for your test signiture on my topic.......

Ermes that is a seriously cool game just one thing i wanna know though how on earth did you make the cars follow the track i have wanted to know how to do this for ages?

Excellent Game

By the way i have a perfect frame rate with this game on my PC!

P.S what did you make this in DBC or PRO?

@lcfcfan:
i've placed some waypoint, so cars head to wp1, when the range between car and wp1 is under 50 3d unit, the car head to the wp2, and so on until they reach the last wp.
make a good turning and run routine for enemy, and here it is your car game!you need a small editor to make this, i've made one who design the track and let you place the waypoint.

game is in dbpro patch 4.1

Ah, an addition to the prevoius posts, this is my 3rd game, i'm developing games in the way to improve myself and learn what is better to do in a program to obtain the max speed, graphic effect and gameplay. So all the 3 programs are a study of programmation, finished in 3 complete games. This is the way i use, i always complete what i started.
And finally, i haven't any commercial purposes for my games, my reward is you play the game, you enjoy the game and you tell me i'm good!!!

I think I found a bug

For some reason, occasionally when I'm on my final lap, I'll pass the finish line but I'll still be on my final lap. Then, suddenly I'll go from being in first to being in second, third or fourth without anyone ever passing me! It's quite annoying, it just happened to me.

Other than that: great game, very addictive.

so strange, i've tested the game nearly 200 times, on all 15 tracks, during last laps in the two difficult modes, waiting the second racer while i'm the first at the finish line to see if all was working ok.
Can you tell me in what track you have this bug???

Maybe is for this: if you go offtrack and you miss a waypoint of the track, your lap counter will not continue while you reach the waypoint you miss, so if you go offtrack, you have to reentry the track at the same position you go out. This is to avoid shortcut in some part of the tracks.

Hey Ermes,

I've had the problem on multiple tracks, and I don't know what's causing it. I've been staying on the track, too. Maybe you need to expand the way point or alter, i.e. check collision with the track? I don't know how you programmed it so that's really all I can say.

But like I said, the game is really addictive. Great job.

Waypoint control are greather than 2 times the radius of the street blocks, so if you are on tracks or nearby, you never be offroad.
Strange problems, i can't understand why.other users don't have this problem it seems.

This is a classic video drivers problems.Have you downloaded the latest driver at www.nvidia.com?? ok, i think yes.DX is at least 8.1?? Yes again, i think.

I've a PIII 850 mhz, dx9, 32 mb geforce 2, and all works fine; i'm sorry you can't play the game without problems, or not playing the game at all.

we took your cool game with us @ Games Convention (http://www.games-convention.de) in Leipzig and showed it there as part of our DarkBasic Professional "what you can do with it" software

There were around 92000 visitors and some guy from the german publisher played it all the time to get the death car

Thanks for the nice game

i got celeron 366 tnt 32mb

runs silky smooth but little bit slow - i bet if u doubled all the speeds and ran game at 50fps it would look just as smooth and it would work on lower spec machines. if u did i would test it for u on my crappy computer.

anyway congrats - very good game.

Yeah, really good.

Well, except for the fact that all the music is stolen. I heard Crash Bandicoot, Super Mario World 2, and others. I even heard Little Mermaid. It played the ATeam, Happy Days, and Looney Toons when I won a race!

Oh whatever, it's hilarious! great job!

yes, the music are all, ALL, stolen.Anyway, the game is free.
But it's funny to win a race and listen "ATeam" song!!

@Flashingblade: sorry but the game is tested from PIII 850 + 32 mb videocard, there is an option to reduce the object in screen, but the timing of the game is developed to run at 100 fps.
All the pc with a cpu 1GB+ and a video card who has more or equal than 32 mb ram, can do it.

Now i've a 2.4 athlon and a gefoce fx5600 256 mb videocard, it's impossible for me understand how my next game will work on a 366 Mhz 32 mb video card....

No development for sunday drivers is in sight, now working for alienware compo.

I made a cool app that lets you unlock levels and cars. I made it for fun and couldn't wait to get those cool cars. If you don't mind, I could post it here, otherwise I could just email it to you.
