Well, MJ's last concert was in London, so that doesn't support that reason...

I'm not English and I'm not 13...I just don't spend my time with celebrities (I spend my time on TGC instead ). I also don't watch much TV, and happen to not like MJ's music\life-style. Is there something wrong with having a personal opinion?

I'm curious to know, how do you know that you don't like MJ's music if you've apparently never listened to it before??

What I quoted wasn't an opinion. You said three facts. It just seemed remarkably oblivious to me, that you pretty much couldn't identify any of these people. Either way, it doesn't matter.

I listened to 2 or 3 of his tracks the day after he died...

I took your post as insulting, that's all.

I don't see how not knowing about 3 people out of the entire world's population means I'm oblivious. I just don't watch enough TV to know about some actor\actress\TV host\whatever they are.

Anyway, you're right. Let's forget it.

No, you just misunderstood me, my dear friend. By responding to Mr Bigglesworth saying that he enjoyed watching Billy Mays commercials, I said "Who doesn't?" aka "Who does not" Okay, so there is one negative word, right? Then I put an answer, which was; "NOBODY!". Saying nobody made that a double negative statement, ultimately making it a positive statement. Therefore, the statement meant that everyone should love Billy Mays commercials.

Starting a flame war in a Billy Mays thread is so overrated. Lighten up. The guy died, MJ died, both were cultural icons in one way, shape, or form and both will be missed.

Personally, I couldn't stand Billy Mays' voice (although NOTHING will ever be more unbearably annoying than the guy from the "Shamwow" commercial). It is still a tragedy (as all deaths are), but I can't comprehend how people could actually like his commercials. To be fair, I can't comprehend how anyone could actually like any commercial, not just his.

He seemed like an okay guy, but I hated those OxiClean commercials, and any other commercials with yelling at me.

He's not yelling at you. He's yelling with you. He's also yelling to convince you how 1337 OxiClean is.

OxiClean is dumb. I wasn't yelling, so how could he be yelling with me. And you aren't in my Refrigerator because I ate the last of my birthday cheesecake yesterday.

...It was a joke...

Actually, that was just my clone. He stands in for me incase someone gets hungry and craves cheesecake. I have millions and millions of clones, though, so I'm never eaten. Therefore, I am technically in your refrigerator at all times, but sometimes I hide.

Who was Billy May? From what I can see he's like an American version of Barry Scott...

Well, he died while everyone was obsessing about MJ, building documentaries of his life and stuff, so it explains the lack of report.

Billy Mays is a D-list celebrity, *if* that. There's no way they could have done more of a report other than 1-2 sentences on the national news. Personally I found him quite annoying and I don't see the appeal at all. Would you all care if Mr. Popeil died?

No, cuz I don't know who he is. Mays was a cool guy who came across as a really honest and careing dude and had his own new show. Though I don't hold a grudge about him getting less light than Jackson.

Billy Mays should have received more respect than he dead. He has been around for a while and I personally like the guy's commercials and him as an individual. He was a good person and loved what he did (Pitchmen shown this). Discovery is having a tribute July the 9th at 9:00 PM.

I watched an episode of pitchmen recently, and like everyone is saying he was a really nice guy; real funny too. He did yell at you in commercials, but i think it was just to get your attention.

Quote: "Discovery is having a tribute July the 9th at 9:00 PM.

least that's one tribute....I can't even skim over Mtv or VH1 without a picture/video of MJ popping up. I mean his death is sad too but I think theres been 1 tv memorial special too many.

my taste in music isn't weird, its just so amazing your ears haven't quite adapted to it yet.

Grog Grueslayer, I thoroughly enjoy your signature.

And yeah. While Michael Jackson was alive, the media wouldn't stop making him out to be a pedophile, and has soon as he died, he becomes a legend? That is hypocrisy, my friends.

Thanks for the heads up for the Billy Mays tribute, by the way.

EDIT: Ugh, I have a feeling my signature is too big. What are the limit dimensions again?

Just remember, Pitchmen is a TV show and as such it may not portray reality exactly the way it is.

As for Michael Jackson... it's been a little bit now so I feel I can say this without being too disrespectful. He was very influential in his genre of music, but other than that he was a kind of messed up guy. He was a drug addict and as such was kind of asking for it. Not to say that his death was any less tragic than that of Billy Mays or anyone else on the planet Earth for that matter, but it isn't any more tragic either.

Except for criminals, the death of no human being is more tragic than that of any other.
