Though I failed a module this year, another module benefitted (I got an A- for it).

My lecturer was writing a case study for the International Writing Conference in Bangor. Prior to submitting my coursework she asked if she could interview me on my research to do with the classical writer, Ovid and she wanted me answer some questions for her study with her wanting to quote any creative pieces I've written related to Ovid. She never interviewed me in the end. Instead today I got an email from her, and she has made her study and presented it. And my essay was enough for her to quote it instead and her piece is being considered for Academic review and may be printed. If it does, I'll get a copy.

The study was a specific case study on Ovid detailing how the new methodologies of Creative Writing opens a different route to the classics.

So I'm pretty chuffed.

Pretty cool, Mr. Sep. I'm so proud of you.

Not sure what chuffed means, but I'm guessing it has something to do with hand-grenades.

This message was brought to you by Grandma industries.

Yes, every time something good happens I throw a hand grenade into a crowd of people.

This time it was a crowd of old Grannies, so please don't be offended Grandma, I didn't target them specifically to annoy you, it's just it was bingo night and they were all queuing outside.

In seriousness, 'chuffed' is another of saying you're 'pleased', though it might just be a dialect word.

Sorry; Ovid was a major writer who took the Greek mythology and rewrote it for the Roman audience, he is a massive influence to writing (and artists) even if indirectly. The lecturer's paper was a case study to do with creative writing and how it links to classical writing.

Anyway. Thanks guys.

Well done! That's a really uplifting achievement, I think.

Ovid's Metamorphoses is on my summer reading list so hopefully I'll soon know what all the two thousand-odd years of fuss was all about!

He he, it's a good read, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

It is a very strange collection of stories as the central theme is 'transformation', and they occur pretty much as curses. It has some darker sides to it.

Thank you.

Cheers pal,

Hopefully it'll look good on my CV and probably help me score a writing job, though I'm tempted to get a teaching degree once I've finished my current one, I've been thinking for a little while about becoming a lecturer.

Though as far as my creative writing goes, I've decided that to give it more strength I need to research more for my pieces. At the moment I am aiming to submit a short story to a magazine to see if I can get some money and have something published. I've been doing some practice and research in the library over the past week, I might as well get some stuff out there before I need to go out and find work.

I read the Metamorphoses. It almost made me throw up, some of the stories were that gross. But it's still an important piece of literature and it's cool that you were able to contribute something to it's study.

Cool. Good luck with that.

By the way, I just recently learned what "seppuku" meant. That's just wonderful.

You need a stronger stomach. But thanks and yes, I always seem to get that reaction when people discover what my username means.
