As i was sitting here bored to death, I started wondering how people come up with all of these nicknames? So I am asking everyone who reads this to (please?) post how you recieved your nickname.

THA was a clan/group-abbreviation - that group of people had some pretty intense influence on my life when I was age 10-14 - besides just being fun. Rami is my name. So, unlike most people think, its not a (ghetto) form of 'the'.

The name just stuck and never went away.

I inherited the nickname Van-B at school, and it kinda stuck, although my friends call me B, because they can't handle too many syllables in a sentence before their brain goes pop .

My nickname is Nicky but that was taken when I started joining forums, so I added 'dude' on the end.

Mine was an attempt to form the most ludicrous, random name imaginable. Of course, now people think I am 1) a Star Wars fan (I'm not, really) and 2) from New Zealand; so overall it may not have been the best choice. Ah well.

When I was in primary school my nickname was Tobester, because my real name is Toby (yes I have a dog's name). By the end of primary school it developed to Toaster, in high school it was Toasty. So then I named my gamertag Toasty Fresh and then my forum name to The Toasty. Of coursae then I had it changed to Toasty Fresh.

I needed to come up with a "Star Wars" name for Star Wars Galaxies-one of the first things I had to have a username for, so I came up with Gil Galvanti randomly, and it's stuck ever since. Unfortunately, it makes people think I'm Italian, and many Europeans seem to think it's pronounced "Jill" rather than "Gill", like a fish gill.

Many of my friends joined a cult where if they dishonoured people they had to commit suicide, 'seppuku' was their favourite way to go and they asked me to be the guy to cut off their head. They started calling me 'seppuku' as that quite quickly become my reputation - "the guy who helps those guys commit seppuku', it didn't last long, friends obsessed with seppuku don't seem to last long.

I realised that I hated the internet and hoped that if everybody called me seppuku, as they did, then everybody internet would die, but it didn't really work and my plan failed. My goal now is to send a nuke down the telephone line, I have a plan and everything, the only problem is that it's difficult for civilians to get nuclear weapons. That and finding a broadband connection wide enough.

Or you could believe the lie I tell to people that I don't trust, after all some people may blab to the authorities and that "I thought it was a cool name after researching some Japanesey stuff." You can believe that if you want.

My name...hmm...

Well, I am a Star Wars fan and think that Yoda rocks. I originally wanted my name to just be 'Yodaman', but it was taken (though I've never seen the person who has it post anywhere), so I put the first three letters of my first name as a tagline. 'Jeremy' is my name. I like it. It suits me well and isn't heavily used. I think...

So yeah. That's where I got my name.

I have no reason why my friend decided to call me monk one day, but they only called me it once and then seemingly forgot.... However its short, I like it and its not that far away from my proper name.

Mine doesn't really have an origin... Just the first thing that came to mind.

EDIT: Oh, and about the "the": I'm not any old comet... I'm THE comet.

I didn't think Glögg would have been accepted, due to the 'ö'.

Back when BBSes reigned supreme and the Internet was non-existent I first used Ace because I could go though Space Ace without dieing. But after a couple of years of not playing it I decided to change my BBS handle. It took a few weeks of searching for the perfect name and finally settled on "Grog" from BC Comics. He had my same personality (a primitive neanderthal) and had long hair like me. After using Grog for about 12 years I decided to add a last name since I play a lot of RPGs. It didn't take long to pick "Grueslayer" from the greatest text adventure ever made... Zork. Grueslayer is the legendary blade owned by Entharion the Wise that slaughtered all the Grues from the world... at least he thought he killed them all. I've been using "Grog Grueslayer" for about 17 years now.

This was the first forum I ever registered to, and I was skeptical about giving out any information so I picked something generic like "yellow".

Eventually changed to MikeS, because as I grew as a contributing member(when I wrote a few articles for the newsletter), I wanted to have my name attached to my work and be more professional.

Well...my name is fairly simple. I was thinking along the lines of a Superiority Complex...but I have no feelings that I'm superior...I do however believe I am insane. It just made sense at the time.

It was a long long time ago.. In a galaxy far away.

My Mother and Father were under an attack.
For they could not think of a name for their newborn and thats a fact..

They thought of Joe and Mike but none of those had seemed to thrill them.
After a while they said why not just kill him.

Then the Newborn started to run
and its then that they seen the sun...

nothing rhymes with it so they just named him Robert

and thats the story of how I got my nickname, for it shall bring lots of fame!
.

Since I'm of small stature, and a Crows Nest is the highest point on a ship, it wasn't too hard to figure out.

I was gonna go with my school nickname "jap", but that just didn't work. I could also have gone with Tutankhamen, thanks to a random link to him through wiki (I always liked Egyptian culture too)

my taste in music isn't weird, its just so amazing your ears haven't quite adapted to it yet.
