Posting this here as it has no home whatsoever :<

Stumbled across this on tgc homepage, it feels like it has just been baught out by tgc as its still on some sort of external site, has no home on the forums and there is little information about it.

I have always wanted to create an RPG however I lacked the skill to make anything at-all on DBpro.

Will realmcrafter run on vista x64?
How much stock media comes with it?
Has anyone actually baught it :/
Why is there no place for it on the forums!?

It looks great, but I dont want to end up buying something that has no community or official support. I know how tempermental game design and creation can be, especially with the amount of bugs most things have :<

Thanks

I have bought it and I would wait for the next release. Yes it does come with lots of stock media and if you looked on the Realm Crafter website you would know. It is not on the forum because it is not a TGC product they are just selling it. Goto www.RealmCrafter.com to visit their forum and find all the info you need about it.

When you buy it, you get a registration for the official forum which is absolutely packed with stuff. Realm Crafter has a strong community behind it, it's reserved for customers is all.

So there's no need to have a Realm Crafter forum here, in fact doing so could be a real problem - as someone could join this forum, and use the RC section, and never actually buy RC (I mean they could get it by other means).

I bought it and plan to have the first team meeting this Sunday, so we'll be messing around with it then. From what I've seen so far, it's a lot more in-depth than I thought, you could really go to town on it with customizations. For instance it appears to be really easy to take a .X model and use it in RC, you just set the animation frame numbers for whatever actions the character has. So if you bought a character model or made one yourself, it should be straightforward to get that into RC. Along with CharacterFX which is free now, it seems that I'm already in good shape to make my own content.

I imagine there's lots of free stuff on the official forum, but I've yet to look into that too deeply, more in a mindset that I'm making everything myself. I will look around and see what people are giving away and what they are charging. The content that you download, well it's ok, there's certainly enough stuff to make a game, but everyone has that stuff, and the chances are you'll have a more distinct design idea than it will allow.

Frankly, a MMORPG project without a modeler is a worrying thought. Can't you team up with someone with modeling skills?

As for Vista64, I think so... RC is made with Blitzmax which is a multi-platform engine, so perhaps the engine has been fully tested already for Vista64, one way to be sure, and also get an idea for RC is to download a free client, there must be a few free MMORPG's written in RC, it would tell you everything you need to know.

I was thinking that too, waiting for RC2 - but I had no idea it was in progress when I bought RC! - I hope they give a discount to upgrade.

I'm starting this project with youngsters, so I think it's best to set them onto RC right away instead of waiting for RC2, let them get the basics down before worrying about normal maps and higher media burdens. Seems RC2's engine is written in C++, so it should be plenty fast - perhaps even on par with those Torque MMORPG's for speed.

Realm Crafter 2 has been in "BETA Testing" stage since around 2007 and has been released as an early version which still includes bugs and an unstable engine. There is no upgrade discount i'm afraid becuase I looked into this.

So it might take a while

But hopefully they'll get there in the end. I'm not dissapointed in what I've seen so far, which to be honest is mostly youtube videos.

Thanks very much everyone ^_^.

I will go ahead and buy it and hope that the upgrade to rc2 is indeed free.

Lacking in the modelling department but I do have darkmatter and lots of models for use in FPSC that I could import, also a friend with basic moddeling skills. I will move on from there.

that a very goood way to keep piracy down, by using a reserved forum and if any of the are actually stupid enough to try and registor it , well...
