So i have decided to stop 3d and computer work now, maybe coming back to it from time to time,as i have realized their are better and more important things too life then sat in a dark room.

What made me realize this was when the thanks i got for one of my requested models i was doing for free i modeled and textured a model i was very proud of the results however when i sent the model to the requester they did not thank me in anyway i assumed then they werent a thanking kinda of person but then they replyed tht they were not going to use this model and texture after i had spent quite alot of time of the day doing this for them i was kind of heart broken tht my model tht i was so proud of was not good enough they could of warned me and i dont know what was wrong with it but they did say they were goign to use a better texture even though i had took great care even normal mapping little details,oh well it doesnt matter now just abit of my life iv wasted

i have been on this forum for a while now ocasionally changing names out of boredom,so i do know there are some good people on this forum so i may drop in from time to time but i doubt ill be missed nor i will ever be appreciated

bye

Yeah, people are ungrateful.
I've done the same with music a few times. Anyhow, why not just post up the model for free somewhere if it isn't going to be used anyway; you might get a few reviews that way

On the plus side there will be one less person using the same avatar as me .

Seriously though, what everyone else has said. I understand how you could feel upset about it (I get quite attached to my own work and not notice the obvious flaws with it until someone points them out), but you shouldn't let this one person get you down. The important thing is your happy with it, if that's the case how could it have been a waste of time?

We've all been there trust me. It's really annoying when you post code to a newbie that solves his/her problem. Only for them to thank somebody 3 messages below yours that has the same solution you do. Makes you want to stop helping because your message was completely ignored by the newbie.

It's a thankless job helping people sometimes but there are many more people that actually do say thanks and appreciate when we do help them. Don't let this one jerk break your spirit.

Who was it?

Anyway, I have heard of you before, cong, and I have seen your models, and I think we are losing a very good modeler here...

Can't say I know you on here, but I recognise your name, perhaps you're more well known on parts of the forum I don't visit, so I guess all I can do is wish for the best for you're going to do instead of 3D.

Though please, just as a note, use punctuation, I'm not trying to be a grammar Nazi, but it's just hard on the eyes to read something that does use it.

Welcome to freelance work mate! That's what happens, a friend of mine, Windows98 made a Map for someone for $20, never got the money from him so he got ticked off and stopped...

Now think, he made a map, which is quite hard IMO, and not only that he was promised a price, that he never received...

Now how do you think he felt? Compared to you of whom did it for free? His hope was high for that extra pocket cash, of which he was promised but never received...

Now how do you feel? Do you feel let of a little from the anger that he could've created?

Now think to yourself, is it worth it for you to leave your work behind? To start your work anew in a different form? Is it worth leaving your skills in this form of work? Your hard honed skills? Is it really worth it?

Dear god, just take a 2nd look back and don't be stubborn about it...

Do you think that your commercial quality work is no longer worth being continued? Do you really think of that in that way? DO YOU?

And yet, this is just one person that has ticked you off, think about commercial freelance request takers when there payment hasn't been made on work that has been made and sent to the requesters, they don't quit, they don't whine, and they don't make a dramatic thread in a forum... They live with it and so should you... After all, you do this for a hobby correct? Like I myself? It's just a hobby, you do it for fun and if your serious about it, you continue your work even further...

And yes, I do hate drama like this...

Oh, what a great solution. I guess it really is your business, but please, refrain from posting it on a forum. Nobody's interrested, some people may even be offended by it, and most of all, don't post it like you did here, in a "hey, this is what you should do"-way...

Back on topic, I agree with Matuka; you're doing it out of your own free will I assume, and therefore have no obligation to do things unless you find it worthwhile and fun. Still, being screwed in that way naturally blows.

That's a lie!

In all seriousness, don't let one guy get you down. By all means get out into the sunlight now and then, but there's no reason to throw away your 3D skills.

Of course, if you learn how to make 3D games for yourself, you'd be able to use your stuf regardless of what other people thought of it. Maybe that's not what you're after, but it's an option anyway.

Not going to try be a mod here, but multiple accounts are against the AUP. What other names do you go under here? Maybe people might know you under different names.

Whinge more? Honestly, I don't mean to be rude, but like Sep said above, you only post in basically two boards - the FPSC one and the 3D models one. Personally, I rarely visit those boards, so I have no idea who you are, and I'm sure there are others in the same boat as me.

If you give up on something (especially something as small as 3D model) which you enjoy making because a few people are unappreciative, then you'll get nowhere in life. It happens all the time to everyone, and you just have to push on.

Having said that, I'm not really trying to get you to come back. I don't know you, and in my eyes, if you have to post a thread to let people know that you're leaving, you're just a kid looking for some attention. I'm sorry if that all comes across harsh, but it's just the truth.

Really you should take your own advice... the part about not letting some jerk effect you so much. Cutting yourself to "solve" your worries is not the way to solve anything. You allow some jerk to effect you to the point you have to hurt yourself. When I get mad or upset I just play a violent video game... after slaughtering some pixels for about 5 minutes I'm back to happiness. So please, before you cut yourself... take some time and release your anger out on pixels.

If you're staying, then why did you make this bleeping thread?

And if it took "support" from a bunch of strangers, why don't you hang motivational posters in your room? I'm sure you can just look at those for encouragement rather than posting a thread.

Erm, nice modeling skills, "that guy"!

Because he needed love and support from the forum, and I don't think you're making it better...

BTW, don't listen to MIDN90, here is a quote from Jeku:

I think someone has already mentioned what i'm about to say but, welcome to the 3d world. It doesn't matter how long you are working on something there is always a big chance its never going to be used. When something of mine isn't used i just look at the positive side, i've got a piece for my portfolio.
My protip at the end of the day, don't work for free for someone on the FPSC forum.

I agree with Oolite, so I only ever model things for other people if:

A; I'm getting paid for it.
B; It's something that I'll learn from.
Or C; It's something I'll enjoy making.

If I get none of these things, I don't do it. And if it doesn't get used, I couldn't care less because I've gotten something out of it.

to all of you that complain about my way to cope with *mental pain* shouldnt post before you know what you're talking about. It does actually help, because it takes your mind off the emotional pain and focuses it on the physical pain, which, in fact is good for you

Yet another thread where someone says they're leaving because they got their feelings hurt. I'm sure I speak for a lot of people here who are sorry you had a bad experience, but you don't need to create a thread about it. Thanks
