All you guys need to learn to smile. I spotted about 3 smiles in this whole thread! There is only 1 redeeming feature for uber geeks, and that is a "Look! I am actually a friendly looking approachable uber geek, and it's ok to like me!" smile. Otherwise you are a "Not only am I ugly and a geek, but I look like I'm socially inept, so you'd better avoid me and leave me to rott away in my manky bedroom full to the brim with unwashed underpants" geek.

Just a little tip! I am also an ugly geek, but the power of the smile has made my life better.

Note: Avoid going too far and doing the old "I'm desperately smiling, like I have no control over my elation, and am therefore scarily clingy and will probably lick you" smile. That is even worse.

@sigh - I reckon you fall just short of the overly crazed smile technique, and therefore attain a pass!

@mson - I see your point! Your mini photo probably does fall into the lunatic smile category. Perhaps a half way between the two would work best for you?

Its a buddy's house not mine. My bookshelf is more like electronics\programming books, sci-fi (not a fan of fantasy), and political\religious writings.

@MSon:

You like like Lucius Malfoy! Or at least, the guy who plays him in the movie (Jason Isaacs).

And I also see a little bit of Ben Kingsley in there as well (maybe more than I see Jason Isaacs).

Yeah...you look no more than fifteen in that photo, and that's a generous guess. If you want my more accurate guess, I'd say fourteen. That could just be me.

If you're under eighteen, do not post your age! Just sayin'.

AUP says you can post your age unless your under 13.
I'm older than that though, but the mod edited my age so I cant say.

Did you know, that I had sent that rule into Rick. So if you don't like it, then hate me. Seriously though, I did make it.. well not the original but about the self-video, self-images and all that.

Yeah, a Real Genius...just because the AUP says thirteen, it doesn't mean it's acceptable. See this section of the AUP:

Quote: "3.17...Moderators shall, at their discretion, determine what constitutes a violation of theses terms, along with generally accepted nettiqute standards, and can take action against those who voilate these rules."

Your Honor, I rest my case.

EDIT: Moderators have stated before that they don't want people under the age of 18 to post their age. It falls under that part of the AUP that I quoted. So please, don't post your age. I'm not pointing this out to be a jerk, I'm pointing it out because I don't want someone to accidentally break the rules.

The AUP says 13, but there's that "mod's discretion" clause somewhere that's been used to change it to 18. I don't really see what the big deal is, since I've known some very mature 13-year-olds and I'm in a school full of immature 18+ year-olds. The old-timers just don't want to know their being shown up by some kid.

Anyway, a person's age is usually apparent by how they speak(type) and act on the forum. It's only the literate young-uns you have to be wary of.

Congrats on the pheasant and deer Its good to see young people being taught to be responsible with guns.

The Model 500 is meant for hunting, it's just that I don't hunt normal animals with it. I typically hunt the animals that break into my house and steal $15000 of stuff. (Yes my house has been broken into)

We prefer people not to post their age for their own protection, but it does depend on the circumstances. The biggest concern I think is when people join the forum and start 'What age are you?' threads, those raise concern more than anything.

A lot of young people use the forum, and their parents like to know that they are safe - which is why it's a fixed rule - if the fixed rule was removed, nothing would change, mods would still censor age posts as they see fit. Personally, I think that we could reassure a concerned parent that this forum is safe for young people to use, much easier than other forums, any other forum I've used for that matter.
The whole reason why I wanted to be made a mod was due to some really horrific images being posted by a troll - the sort of stuff I don't want to see, would hate for my son to see, and those instances just never happen these days because of the huge mod squad we have . I wouldn't want the poster of those images having any sort of influence or contact with a youngster here.
