You did in every other thread you bring this topic up on, and we know you were leaning towards it here.

Quote: "Anyway, I didn't like what I saw. *For instance* (notice I give specifics...) the aforementioned control+click, the flashy interface, the lack of native support\delayed release for many windows games and apps, outrageous prices from Apple, the limit of ONE hardware vendor, etc. One vendor = monopoly = high prices."

Yeah, for a photoshop class I took we had to use these shiny white imacs (2007, I think?) Either way, the one button mouses were annoying, though apple, years behind everyone else as always, finally decided to go with the two button system.
For me, it's the obnoxious cost and the lack of customization options. A computer is supposed to be personal - I want it in whatever color and style I choose, and with whatever artwork splattered all over the case. Example:

What kind of an "artist" decides to fit in with everyone else and get the same white piece of crap everyone else has?

Upon asking the instructor why we used macs, he said "Because I never used a pc before in my life."

Too late to get him to change now - he's already on the dark side. (I would have a funny comic to post here, but I lost it. )

I'm not leaning toward it at all - the thread is "Worst tech you have ever used" and I replied with my personal interpretation of why Windows 'fits the bill'. So stop being an over-protective presumptuous moron: It's an operating system, not a freaking religion. Just because I dislike Windows does not automatically mean I'm trying to shove the alternative in your face. The only person that is bringing "Mac smuggery" into this thread is you, because I didn't even mention the blasted thing.

Apple is also to blame. They didn't make the barriers of entry easy like Microsoft did with DirectX. If Apple made their own game API libraries and supported them like Microsoft does with XNA or DirectX, and advertised it as such, more people would have crossed over. Game dev on Apple nowadays is largely unknown, compared to Windows.

Actually if you follow posix standards its much easier to port projects into other platforms. Windows just has all the market share so games are more common. And more you relay on Windows more unportable code you get.

That wasn't nice

The worst tech I've ever used would have to be any Mad Catz controller for the Xbox. I've had four and all four broke within a week. Stupid controllers.

I think the worst tech I can remember using is the old imac. I can't stand having to use OSX for any serious work (and unfortunately my comp sci classes are all in the Mac lab), but the colored imacs are the incarnation of all evil for me. IT's not too rational, as I was pretty young when I developed this hate. This video is more or less exactly what I mean:

You've probably seen it.

Usually people buy computers for their operating system, not what they look like...

Quote: "I notice you didn't mention the price."

Yeah. Some Macs have a reasonable price, but some of the laptops are a bit over the top.

See that's funny because of how much Vista copied from OS X. Docks? Widgets? The security system? And the interface seems very Mac-ish too.

Ugh. Same here. Usually Mad Catz makes some decent stuff too.

I have never had luck with a Mad Catz or any third party controller. It always works for maybe a week, and then one of the sticks starts to get loose and it jumps around!

I can only think of Quest for Camelot for the Gameboy as the worst piece of tech I've used. So tedious! And yet for some reason I decided to play through then end :/ .

Also guys really, regardless of how you feel about Windows or Macs, you're not thinking hard enough if you think they're the worst technology you've ever used. I hated my experience with Mac OS X at my school, but it was far from the absolute worst I've ever used!

The topic was asking what the worst tech I have ever used. And from personal experience, that would have to be the sniper rifle because of the guilt and sleepless nights...What am I saying? That was meant to be a joke anyways lol.

To be even more specific, it was a reference to a funny youtube vid.

Oh, I know. I was half-sarcasming my way through that comment.

All OS's borrow ideas from each other. Windows 7 steals a bunch of stuff from linux too, like the cute window previews and such. But I don't care - it's making all the os's better from borrowing these ideas.

That's funny because thats been on Open Source for ages now. So basically they just copied open source developers hard work and put them into their OS.
Screenlets/Widgets/Gadgets, Gnome-do/Spotlight/Vista Search etc.. you get the idea?

Err... I wouldn't write off Chrome OS just yet. If they keep it lightweight, it could allow very rapid booting directly into a web browser, which would be a dream for netbooks

Toasty, I love HP's RK713A slim keyboard. After using my laptop keyboard for the past two years, I've grown accustomed to flat keys. I think it was only $30/$40 too!

The worst tech I have ever used is a touch sensitive keyboard. It was like a big sheet of glass with the outlines and letters marked on it in such a way that you can't feel them. I can see how it might be cool or even advantageous if the keys were indented into the glass but a flat sheet of glass is not good for touch typing on.

You don't modife linux Distro. It is just new Distro. But the marketing makes it look like its new OS. But anyways. Its gonna be great for netbooks that needs fast booting into Web Browser with completely Internet interface. Otherwise its useless. Oh and it has new open source Windowing system too by google

Seeing is it google this is going to be something big and target different kind of audience. And of course Microsoft is going to try and beat them in that audience too. (Soapbox anyone?) Anyways.. I'm myself looking forward to the new Windowing system and how it compares to X.

Yea, it was pretty cheap here too. I bought it because it had flat keys and was backlit, but I just hate the feel of it. Also, it makes funny noises in my earphones when I turn the lights on, really annoying.

Well the game logic should be portable. The graphics API, not so much.
