After seeing lots of praise about the "amazing" online play, and considering I loved the first dawn of war I decided I would pick up DowII on steam for 1/2 off last weekend.

And I'm in love - I've never played such a fantastic (and beautiful) online strategy game. Windows live is incorporated into everything - which some may view as a bad thing, but I love it because you can quickly invite your friends into games, and you can chat with them even when you're fighting different rounds. The matches are quick - usually 5-30 minutes each- and action packed even in the first minute.

It's so frantic and awesome! I'm terrible - I only win about 1/3 of the games I play or less, but I still love it so much.

I highly recommend you guys get it. If you have the game, feel free to friend me:

my live id is zorgandorg. We'll play some battles together, eh?

Post your live gamertags so we all can get together and play.

Yes: Chainsaw-swords and guns mixed are obnoxious. But quite frankly, awesome as well.

I've played the demo, it's good, but I prefer Company of Heroes, which is made by the same company but is WWII and has a lot of the same mechanics (cover, rock-paper-scissors balance, squads), etc. CoH is one of my favorite games, I'd recommend it if you like DoW.

lazerus - Multiplayer is way better than the campaign, you must try it!

EDIT: I enjoyed CoH, but I find this much much better. The demo was crap - just a campaign mission, which wasn't really fun. The multiplayer/skirmish is what is worth buying the game for.

@matuka -

DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA

@nex - Yeah, but you can always turn the effects down. I'm fortunate enough to have a new, shiny, fast PC. At least until the end of this year.

I think the game looks amazing but unfortunately, I'm in the same position as NeX. Although, my computer is more than likely much worse. So, I can only dream to run amazing looking games on my computer...Hell, Runescape HD would be satisfying.

Thraxas - The new patch that recently came out included 8 new maps and a map editor that allows for custom maps! New reason to play?
