I'd like to build an image of a current XP install that I can easily ghost back to the drive within a few minutes should I ever need to. That way I don't need to reinstall countless applications and drivers. Any suggestions?

I'm using the free version of Macrium Reflect. The great thing about this version is that you can also create a bootable rescue disk that you can use to restore the image file if your PC is so messed up it won't boot. Creates the images lighting quick too. Much faster than Acronis TrueImage which I used for years.

Search for "Ultimate Boot Disk". It has everything you'll ever need, and it's all freeware.

Windows 7 has a built-in disc image and repair disc creator.

I suppose that won't be much help, though.
