Hey,

As I was browsing the interwebz today, I stumbled across a cool concept-360 degree video. I'm sure we've all seen and heard of 360 degree pictures (ie: Google street view), and this is basically the same thing, but put together as a video. It's pretty awesome to be able to see everything around where the video was recorded, almost like you are there, able to turn your head in any direction. I thought some people here would think it was cool, here's a website with a bunch of videos of possible applications (anything from military exercises to paragliding to the driving down a street):

Here's a link to a video of a drive through New York City for those too lazy to browse through the videos of the company's website:

It reminds me of a GTA game or something,

Itd be great if someone turned it into the raving rabbids type wii games

"the wind bothers me, its sudden acrid coldness. The world around me darkens and the moon seems distant, unforthcoming, hostile"

I don't think it's very immersive - the video quality isn't high enough - but it's cool nontheless.

It's quite cool. Like people say, the video resolution isn't that high. The bitrate is limited because of the internet, and it's spread over all directions. The camera FOV shown is quite large- again because if you zoomed in it would be blurry.

To make this work well you need very big video, high resolution video files. Then you could see it in high res, whilst also being able to zoom in a bit more.

Pretty soon i reckon they'll be using very high fov movie cameras, and then getting the view they want later in postproduction using this kind of thing.
