Alright. I just downloaded the new batman game demo, and wasnt expecting much. Ive played a bunch of other batman games before, and they were fun, but really simplistic. THIS one however, blows my mind. The combat is flipping epic. The really cool thing about it is how you get to play exactly like how batman would do it. You have 4 bad guys in a big room looking for you, and you can chill on the ceiling and strike them out one by one. And its SICK because the bad guys arnt wicked stupid, they feel real. When a buddy goes down, theyll get all nurvice and and start wiggin out. There always checking over the their shoulder and what not...

I highly recommend it.

I'll try it. I'm currently in an argument with a friend about which one will be the letdown: Halo 3: ODST or this game.

Neither. I am not a Halo fanboy by any means, but ODST looks sick. Halo's greatest strength has always been the dynamic AI, and it looks to work well in an open-world setting. Also, almost the entire cast of Firefly has a voice role, so thats pretty sick.

Yea, Ive never been a halo fan boy, but ODST looks different enough to be fun. And for some reason, I have TWO full season collections of FireFly....

It's a shame only XBLive Gold members can download the demo, though I've been tempted to upgrade my account. I've watch a few of the trailers and it does look pretty awesome. My house/flat-mate has been hyping about it for a long time, so it'd be great to it make him happy.

As for Halo ODST, I've not really looked into it, I'm still playing Halo 3 and though I'm not a fanboy as I don't see the 'fun' in being a fanboy in anything, as all I'd do is make people like myself want to beat me up for being a sad, whiney little opinionated git. But Halo 3 is a fun game (not played the first 2), and I imagine Halo ODST will be as well.

ODST looks like it can bridge the gap between Halo 3 and COD with the less-than-larger-than-life characters you play as.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread, OP.

I guess I'll go try out the demo on steam later. I've kind of been keeping track of the game and really like the ideas that are being implemented, I just don't know if I feel like buying a batman game right now.

Huh, didn't know steam had a demo, maybe I'll try it out later. It's hard for me to work up motivation to play a game made after a movie. Most of them leave a really bad taste in my mouth. The spiderman games were excellent though! Swinging around was pretty cool On second thought, I can already see myself driving the batmobile like a madman

I started downloading it but then my 360 broke, beautiful E79 (one red ring).

I played it, enjoyed it. It's sad they didn't give us one or two of the challenge mode levels, because the demo was 2.03 GB for 30 minutes first time and 10 minutes on the second, third and fourth times.

It was however extremely fun to do the inverted takedowns, glide kicks and silent takedowns in that last section.

Downloaded on Steam, looks great and plays quite smoothly, though only for a little while, it seems to have made my laptop quite hot and thus it rapidly slowed down. I'll probably nab the 360 demo if I upgrade to XBL Gold.

Actually i think its the graphics card because last night it was freezing my games and making a quick static noise then parts of the screen would go green. Today it won't even show the error screen.

You can send one to me... I actually haven't seen Firefly. Just Serenity. Brilliant movie, even though I didn't understand a lot of the backstory.

I don't think I could take a Batman game seriously. For me, there's just something about being a superhero that makes it a turn off for me. I never liked any of the other superhero games, either. I think after seeing Adam West's Batman from the 60's, I can't take a game playing has him seriously.

The only thing I was irritated by was how batman kept getting in the way of what I could see - why are his shoulders so wide? He looks chronically obese!

I believe Adam West is doing the voice work for this game. I know Mark Hamill is playing the Joker, just like in the original cartoon.

I played the demo and wasn't overly impressed.
It felt like every other game out there and the combat was too simplified. I felt like the coders were holding my hand through the whole thing (detective mode/too lazy to look for yourself mode ).
Batman does get in the way too lol
The models looked like action figures which I actually quite liked, but I'd only give this a 6.5/10
That's only based on the demo though...

[edit]
Did you ever play Batman Begins?
I preferred that to this one.

That's probably because this was the tutorial part of the game. I'm pretty sure most of the game won't make everything so obvious through most of it (at least I hope not).

Kevin Conroy is the voice of Batman in this one, he's done most of the modern Batman cartoons. Personally, I'm liking how this game is staying more true to the comics which I never got the chance to get into. Having a person's bio pop up is a nice distraction and will help all the kids who are into The Dark Knight's batman see where the series has come from.

It's the first level.

And I thoroughly enjoyed the demo! It's like Splinter Cell meets the Dark Knight. And the graphics were stellar.

I am very impressed by the graphics. I didn't know consoles were capable of such things!

I watched - and laughed at - the Mummy Returns yesterday. The CGI for the Scorpion King, while laughable, was comparable to some of the graphics in this game, at least with eyes squinted. Shows how games are coming along doesn't it?

Yeah, all they need to do is stop specular mapping rocks in a desert and we'll be most of the way there. Look, varnished!

Yes, it was horrendous - but that was multi million dollar CGI back in the day and now its comparable to a console game done in real time. I am impressed, for one!

As am I. It's funny looking back at Star Trek: The Next Generation and knowing that if I tried, I could probably render better graphics. haha
