Usually my sillyness is portrayed through asking for help in the DBP section then finding the answer pretty much as soon as I posted.

Thankfully I didn't post about this one as it was too complicated to go through my AI code with everyone.

I just learnt that one should never underestimate sc_setupcomplexobject. Failing to do so, lost me so much speed with AIs running around insidee my map that I was seriously giving up hope with my project. (The project should run at 66FPS and was dropping to 53 with only a handful of enemies )

I will now not be so oblivious to its advantages over sc_setupobject.

Anyone ever done something this stupid then found the answer a while later and breathed a nice big long (theoretical) sigh of relief? xD

I must just be the only silly here on the forums - I even managed to write a whole bug report, post it, then find out it wasn't a bug (1/20 != 0.25 in integer land )

Anybody remember when I forgot AUTOCAM OFF and thought it was a BlitzTerrain glitch?

How complex does the object have to be to have speed advantages?

Ehehe, yeah, autocam is a pain. I also remember not adding the "lock object" command, which screwed up the guns on a FPS. Never got to a bug report, though, thankfully

1/20 != 0.25 in floating point land either

I've done something similar before - "oh no! My engine is too slow and the game will never be as great as planned!"

Then -

"Yay, I fixed it. That wasn't hard, just a silly mistake."

Makes you feel really good afterward.

@ Satchmo
I don't know exactly, but my map was an FPS style level with 20k odd polygons and having 5 men walking towards you, all checking for sliding collision with the map slowed my FPS considerabley. And my PC is pretty darn sweet:
2.9ghz duel core, nVidia Geforce 9800, 4gb (3 running) ram ...

@ Diggsey
Well yeh, it just refused to use 0.25 in the calculation I was doing (it wasn't defined as a floating point)

Making errors and mistakes is usual. I remember my game suddenly dropping to 43 fps after I went into the cave and came out again. I took months to figure out why, until I noticed that I loaded the grass in the level 10 times after exiting the cave instead of only 1 time...

Anything higher than 50 polygons.
