i've been looking around for a while and found both HyperCam and WM Capture; the former has really ugly quality (not to mention i can't seem to get it to sync with the audio) and the latter seems to only be capable of 30FPS (normally that would be good but for some reason when i record things like Super Smash Bros it's pretty jumpy).

Remember those old guys? They made epic renders, I think one of them was called DaVinci, and all they used was MS Paint. Sometimes it's just skill....

Snagit 9, it's $50, but in my opinion, a very nice program in terms of quality, and worth the cost.

Cam studio in my opinion is the best free one so I use it.
I've tried Fraps (which screwed up) and Hypercam (which had the quality of cat fur)

I use Camtasia Studio for my desktop (not in-game), and Fraps for in-game. Fraps is in my opinion the best gamecam there is, since all the other ones (hypercam is the worst) capture my screen with 5 fps...

I use Fraps..in that, I bought it and have yet to use it...

If I was ever given the opportunity to remove all the bad from the world, I wouldn't, because for there to be heroism, compassion and all that is good, there must also be all that is bad.

I don't own it yet, but when I need to capture instructions on how to use the application I'm working on I'm going to get AutoScreenRecorder. It's made by the same people that make ScreenHunter (the single screen capture program I use). It has many options that don't seem to exist in other programs like recording weird shapes instead of a a box area. It also gives full control of how many frames a second/minute you want. At the default 8 frames a second it looks natural but it can go up to 50 frames a second. They also have free versions of AutoScreenRecorder and ScreenHunter with limitations of course.

Well, how can you record your screen with Sound Recorder? Your screen is a video device. Sometimes screens include sound, but not always.
