I'm going to high school tomorrow, today is the last day of summer, man am I nervous. I kindof screwed up in middle school, and now I am wondering if high school will haunt me of my mistakes. They say not to worry, but for somebody like me, you get paranoid. They say not to say stupid things, but I have a tendency to do that.

I am taking some honor courses, but I usually get almost all striaght A's (stupid B+). How bad is high school and will I get so busy that I can't program until school ends? I'm getting nervous and I think a few answers would help a lot.

There are 2 ways to develop for the N64:
1. Develop C code with PsyQ SDK and illegal Nintendo libs
2. Develop C code with legal kits, such as the Ground Zero devkit (g0dev.zip)

High school's a lot different here, but it was a lot better than primary (high school starts at 11 here) and I did most of my non-work programming while at high school.

So long as you remember to knuckle down when the work matters and for exams, you can enjoy your time outside of school. The more you pay attention in class the easier the whole experience becomes.

As for the people. You'll probably only see a handful of them ever again, so don't worry too much about impressing the idiots, and make friends with the people you really like.

I think you'll find it's a bit like a scary film, the lead up to watching it can be a bit tense, the first time watching/day there, can be a bit scary, but after you've done it a couple of times (few days/week) it's not scary, and just boring

You'll be fine. My freshman year of highschool was easy, even with several honor courses. I actually found myself less busy with schoolwork than I was in middle school. The only thing that was really new in high school for me was final exams, and those were easy as well.

Write down all the things that you are nervous about or thinking of, then when you get home check and see how many of them happened.

Just remember everyone else including the teacher is going to be nervous.

Enjoy your free time and the lack of responsibilities while you can. The world changes when you get out of high school. I didn't much care for the drama or social jocking for populatarity and I was happy to get out of the place. But as I look back, I kind of miss it in a weird sort of way. I did have some really fond memories, along with the mind numbing stupidity of it all.

Also, make the best of every opportunity in HS. Maybe go out of your comfort zone a bit and get into some clubs. Now's the time to try things out and you'll regret not seizing the moment when your older.

I'm not sure were you want to get into school, but I find it pointless to bust your butt taking a bunch of accelerated classes to get a degree at a community college. Always pay attention in math and science, but if your not going to be a biology major, you can probably save some time/energy by skating by there. Haha, sounds like terrible advice

So... is high school like secondary upper school or university?
In first case, it was the best I've experienced in school way this far, so enjoy it while you can
In the second case, it depends if you choose right, I guess.

Must be secondary/sixth form as university is known as college in the US

It's funny this thread pops up seeing I am about to make a thread much like this, however I'm starting my first day of college tomorrow.

High school is easy. There's really nothing to be nervous about. It was the most boring 4 years of my life but only because I didn't do any extra curricular activities or anything. It does go by incredibly fast though.

Signature's are stupid.

What age does high school start in America? It's 13/14 over here.

Been there a while.

I so don't miss freezing my butt off and unsticking my frozen nose hairs while standing at the bus stop in negative temperatures at 6:30 a.m. Driving to classes in the winter for the past two years wasn't too bad. But it's even better now for the last two years of college because it's all online

dude chill, its my freshman year to and trust me, the transfer goes way smoother than you expect

the only real diff between hs and ms is in hs you get a lot more privelages such as pickin your own classes

and as far as the "i messed up in ms, will it haunt me?" question goes, it will to a degree, but for the most part, unless you did something REALLY SERIOUS as in like against the law then odds are its not going to have much if any of an effect on your hs life

High school is awesome. It has cooler people, cooler classes, and cooler activities than middle school did. Make sure you get involved with something and try to hang out with as many people as possible. Dont get into fights with people, especially people who wear shorts and a backwards hat everyday. That may sound stereotippical, but its TRUTH. Go with what people tell you the first time you meet them, but dont let them think your a push over. Find something to argue about with them, but in a friendly manner. Its how friends are made.
Dont do anything 'stupid'.
'stupid' = something your grandmother would smack you for.

You'll be fine... everything that happens in High School is totally forgotten about after it's over. Girls that never talked to you during High School think you were friends of theirs after High School is over (happened to me). It's a weird twisted world we live in.

It's a cake walk.

Looking back, life is way suckier after you graduate, so get used to the easiness of it all. You have much more responsibility once you graduate.

It goes by quick too.

The summer after I graduated and was going to college, the popular people were laying cement for new buildings....

It is true.

Your health is its best!
Your mind is sharp!
You have less hastles!

Later on you get old, fat, and ugly, and you have to go to work everyday and take crap from your boss.
Each year your cost of living increases more than your raises in salary, and you go farther in debt.
Pretty girls stop smiling back at you, and then your hair falls out along with your teeth and you learn that the only sure thing in life is that you can never trust a fart.

Just kidding.
It's not that bad, but hey... you ain't got it bad is all I'm saying cause it could be (and does get) worse.

I'm glad it wasn't for me, I'd probably be in jail by this point in life.

Highschool in America starts at 14. Sometimes 13 depending on when your birthday is and when your parents started you in kindergarten.

For you UK folks:
K-5 = grade school
6-8 = middle school/junior high (some schools its only 7-8)
9-12 = highschool

There seems to be inconsistency in the school system here in the UK: in Cannock, there's nursery (up to 4) then Primary (up to 12) then Secondary. (up to 17) In Uttoxeter there's nursery (up to 4) then Primary (up to 9) then Middle (up to 14) then High. (up to 17)

I've been through both systems on and off and I have to say that nursery-primary-middle-high works better especially in the final school because with an age range of 12-17 the teachers have to be capable of being patient with a 12 year old and not treating a 17 year old like an idiot. You probably won't find any capable of doing that, every teacher has an age group with which they work best.

That couldn't be further from the truth for me. Life was way suckier in high school (it started at age 12 for me, Grade 8). Life got great for me around Grade 12 and peaked at about the age of 22. It went all downhill from there, though

In Sweden we start a year later than that... of course, we go one year shorter as well (however, not too far ago, there were "high school" programs running for both two and four years; now everything is three though).

Kind of confusing seeing as the swedish word for university-without-certain-top-examinative-ranks, "högskola", translates straight to "high school"
