if i could say something about the scythe, i think the player should be holding it so his left arm is holding it at (almost) the bottom, and his right arm is holding it higher. people wouldn't normally hold a scythe like that becuase it's difficult to aim or get power into the swing when it's holding it like that.

but i love the textures! they're amazing! but why would i of suspected anything less from you kravenwolf?

The scythe is hold by your left hand at the handle that sticks out at the left and right beneath that handle,I know cause thats the only way you can cut grass.

The animations for the weapons are only temporary. As teamhalo mentioned, I was only interested in seeing how these weapons would look when held by the player for the time being. And from there, could determine what I need to change about their meshes or textures.

Kraven is correct when team halo "rigs" the weapon he is not only putting the weapon on EAI hands but also adding it to hands with an animation pre-made by EAI. So that is not a custom anim but is only temporary.

How about some bolt action weapons? No one has any of them, meaning its hard to find good weapons... Could you make sommin like the Ariska? And how about some of the LMG's from COD5? The MG42 and the Browning?

I'm working on a pack of WWII weapons outside of this project, and believe or not, the meshes for the three weapons you mentioned are already finished. But I still haven't decided weather or not I will be releasing my World War 2 collection any time soon (which is why I didn't post their progress).

I was considering it, but seeing as how Errant already has one more than half finished, I might as well let him have that one

Errant probably wont have it done for 100 years as he is very busy,2 is better than 0.

It wouldn't scare me at all, I'd be wondered how the developers came to the idea tough...dead babies shouldn't be featured in videogames, I'm for artistic freedom and all, but some things just... won't fit.

Some exotic weapons there, good work!

The first time a brick has been referred to as "exotic..."

The weapons are awesome, if only flak didn't explode, we could have the player find bricks in rubble and lob them at people...

If I was ever given the opportunity to remove all the bad from the world, I wouldn't, because for there to be heroism, compassion and all that is good, there must also be all that is bad.

No more discussion about religious weapons of any kind please. Discussion of religion is banned under the AUP.

john schwarcz, you'll be having a break from the forums for a week. I don't know what you were thinking posting that last comment which I have now deleted. If it was meant as a joke, it wasn't funny and in no way was is acceptable on these forums.

Nice stuff so far Kravenwolf

Thanks for cleaning up this thread, Thraxas. Anyway, I've been busy working on a few other projects over the last week but I did manage to throw together a base mesh for a standard, 12 gauge, pump action, shotgun earlier today

Obviously the mesh still needs some refining. The textures are only temporary to help me layout the UV coodinates. But, once I get around to it, I can get everything finished with it, and post a finished shot here.

Awesome dude! I've been looking for a pump shotgun like this for quite some time, that's perfect man. Can't wait to see the final product, and buy that sucker the second it goes for sale

Cheers

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.

Just want to bump this thread with a small update. I've finished mapping out the UVS for the shotgun, and baked in some AO just for kicks As I said before, I still have to add a little more to the mesh, and then I can start on the final texture.

@teamhalo, thanks again for another test rig, though I didn't intend to share a screenshot of it ingame just yet

@shadowfire, I'm not going to release the shotgun or call it 'finished' until it looks exactly how it does in game as it does from the render shot. I was hoping that I would be able to stick to just a low-poly mesh for the shotgun as I was able to pull off with the melee weapons, but as the test rig image shows, it's obvious that I'm going to have to create a high poly version, and then apply its normal map to the low poly mesh. More work, but I suppose it will be worth it, keeping in mind the end result.

Wow looks very nice! The thing is that the texture doesn't look too good ingame, and it doesn't exactly look so nice with the shaders. But great job, the render looks very nice.

Oh yeah, no problem I removed it, I should have asked XD
But in my opinion, you should do a higher poly one, and go a little bit more in detail with the texture.

Thanks. Yeah, I felt the exact same way after running it in game for myself. The texture isn't by any means the final one that will be applied. The one that is on it now was just a random wood texture and a random metal texture I had in my library that I threw on it so I could get the UV mapping done.

After checking it out in game, I think I'm just going to make a high poly mesh of the weapon, create a normal map for it, and then give that map to the low poly model. And although the test rig didn't look that appealing, it did exactly what I needed it to do; which was let me see what I need to change.
