http://www.blucigs.com/

I saw this advertised somewhere and I just had to check it out. Was curious to see what you guys would think of this as I know a few of year deal with nicotine addictions. Basically its a cigarette which works by giving you nicotine through vapor, and its all battery powered. No tar or anything that could affect your lungs.

Be sure to check out the how it works video.

I think it's a penalty worthy of prison time to intentionally addict someone to a drug and then charge him for it. We do it to our illegal drug dealers after all. I would like to find out who owns Blu Cigs, or the concept thereof. If it's the tobbaco industry, then they should be shot.

Since I quit smoking over 13 years ago, I can tell you that people don't smoke. Cigarettes smoke. People are just the suckers.

Brian.

At first I thought it was a quit-smoking thing, and thought that was actually pretty cool. Then I realized it was a replace-smoking-with-this thing. They didn't say anywhere that you'll get addicted to this, which they really should. But they have nicotine free ones, which is nice of them.

Well it can also be used as a tool to quit smoking, as it has different strengths of nicotine you can buy so you can actually wean yourself off of nicotine altogether.. that and you aren't taking in all of the harmful chemicals of regular cigarettes, NOT saying that you should start to smoke these though if you just wanna try smoking. lol

I don't know a whole lot about cigarettes but I don't think thats what the whole light/ultralight thing refers to, I think that's just for the flavor of the smoke (or vapor in this case).

Wow... This is essentially just a bunch of little electronic pipes. How sad, for someone to charge cigarettes in their USB port. You'd think they would use atomizers without the nicotine, or tobacco flavoring instead. This is just another drug brought into the 21st century.

People who smoke are at risk of cancer.

This device provides a nicotine fix to smokers without the risk of cancer.

It's designed as a replacement for smoking that is less harmful and probably an easier route to quitting. Smoking is part physical addiction for a lot of people as well, so this takes care of that issue quite well, providing a tangible smoking experience with much less risk.

I was gonna suggest these to my dad, who always has trouble stopping smoking, gum and patches never work for him, maybe it's worth trying a different angle - i.e. start using the usb ciggy and ween off that instead. At least there's a chance that someone trying to stop, would go back to the USB ciggies instead of real ones, and that's a step in the right direction IMO. For one thing, passive smoking is not an issue so this is a ciggy that can be 'smoked' anywhere, in front of kids, at work, in a bar, in any public place really. Often it's passive smoking that is the whole concern and I think that introduces a lot of pressure - people have to go at their own pace when stopping, and this might well stop people feeling like social outcasts, either when socializing with non-smokers, or trying to quit around smokers.

Now if they can just make a USB coffee cup, or USB waffles, I'd be happy.

So wouldn't this be like a nicotine patch that you suck on? I know nothing about this, but I guess its better than regular cigarettes if there is no second hand smoke, or smoke at all for that matter.

Still, why should anyone smoke?

So, hang on...

And then...

So they have cigarettes free of everything yet they still taste the same? What? I'm confused. That would mean you're essentially putting a piece of plastic in your mouth for no apparent reason

You switch from cigarettes to nicotine only electronic inhalers. You slowly reduce the dosage until eventually you're inhaling nothing. Then you stop.

I don't understand whats so dumb about these. I mean smoking in general is dumb but if you smoke for the taste then this is the way to go. I mean it taste the same but it won't kill you (unless you choke on it lol)

That looks good on paper and all, but nicotine addiction does not work like that. Each and every time you ingest nicotine it only tells the brain that it is an ok thing to do. In time the brain stops questioning it at all, and it becomes second nature.

In my opinion, this is not a good thing at all because while it is technically "healthier" (if you can call it that), it removes a lot of the feeling that smoking is not a good thing to do. This feeling is vital to quit smoking, because without it the only other reason to quit would be money (which addiction often makes people forget about entirely).

I smoke a pack a day (that's 20 cigs for those who don't know), and essentially started from boredom. One summer I went to my grandparents cabin for a month, and managed not to smoke for the entire time. When I came back, it took about 3 hours of being around other smokers to start right back up.

Instead of making healthier alternatives, tobacco should be outlawed.

The ultimate cure to smoking is to never do it in the first place.

Quote: "Instead of making healthier alternatives, tobacco should be outlawed."

No. If you want to smoke, that's your own decision. It is, of course, a dumb decision to make, but you still have every right to do so if you really want to. I personally don't understand how anyone could actually want to smoke, but there's this thing most people don't seem to realize we have called "Freedom" that says we can do what we want, as long as it doesn't hurt anybody else. The only person that gets hurt when you smoke is you, so there's absolutely nothing "evil" about it.

But I still highly discourage people from smoking, just like I do for drinking excessive amounts of alcohol or even eating too much chocolate. It's very unhealthy, and can lead to some very serious health problems later on.

It's not evil, it's just stupid. The most sacred possesion a person has is his own body, so it's stupid to do anything harmful to it. But it's still your own property, so you can do whatever the hell you want to it. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.

We have smoking bans in pretty much all public places, and possibly bars...I don't really keep up with smoking laws since it doesn't apply to me.

There is nothing "cool" about smoking, and I HATE it when people say it is. It merely encourages people (especially children) to smoke.

As a smoker, these look pretty cool, but until there's more information from the FDA about the risks involved, I wouldn't go near them. I KNOW the risks involved with the cigarettes I currently smoke, but I'm nowhere near fully aware of the risks involved with electronic cigarettes. If it turns out to be more risk, I won't touch them. If it turns out to be less, good alternative. o.O

What you guys have neglected to realise is, you would look like a complete fool sucking on an electronic cigarette. It's the same as being the guy having a coke when everyone else is having a beer. Or eating the salad when everyone else is having a steak. You might be looking after your health, but you will be dramatically reducing your chances of getting laid.

When I was young and thought that I had misspelled a word, I looked it up. I guess they skip right over that lesson in school, along with coloring inside the lines. Seriously, it takes 5 seconds to type the word into google to see if you've spelled it right. And then you learn! Fabulous! Firefox's spell checker works well enough, use that.

EDIT: Oh yeah, meant to add something constructive.

Haha, I told my friend about these today. She didn't quite grasp the concept. It was like "trying to grab at the smoke." I call her, and her little smoking group the "health club."
