http://hothardware.com/News/Firefox-40-Coming-Late-Next-Year/
That's a mockup of Firefox 4.0 put out by Mozilla.

here's Chrome:

I'm not saying it's a BAD idea to take ideas from Chrome's UI, as I personally LOVE Chrome's lightweight UI. But I just think it's funny that Firefox 4's mockups look almost identical.

You're thinking of Flock.

Where are the refresh/stop buttons?

Without a dedicated search bar, I won't update, simple as that. I tried chrome's combi- search bar and it just wasn't as useful.

Unfortunately the recent trend seems to be "It's new and therefore it's better" when in fact it's nothing of the sort. See SuperBar, Dock, new Explorer, Finder, touch keypads...

Oh, and "==" is querying for a similarity, not defining one. Or was that the intention?

So what? The tabs are somewhere different, I mean, would you like it if Mozilla made a mock up of the tabs up your arse? No, I didn't think so.

I assume they would behave partially like Chrome: the "Go" button becomes stop when loading a page, and the refresh is at the end of the address bar.

I would definitely like to see Firefox moving to a better GUI, but it's still to slow for my preference. Maybe they'll pick up on the process-per-tab concept soon. . .

Could be worse, they could've designed a UI based off Oracle products.

Unless he's alluding to Java (due to Oracle purchasing Sun) - but FF doesn't use it and nor does Chrome. So no idea what Oracle UI is about

Anyone who's used a software product created by Oracle will know what terrible UIs they design.

Save? Ok, hit ctrl+H+F9
New page, no problem, just hold shift+F1 then press enter after it turns yellow then hit F4 to change it back, enter a page title, then hit enter again while holding ctrl+shift+F11.

What a nightmare! Sounds like something Grandma would design!

The thing with firefox is that if you don't like it, then download another theme. The only problem with the current theme is that it's old. Everyone else is slimming it down, making it look better. If firefox keeps the default theme the same year after year, then they'll start to look like poo. Just keeping up with the times. I hope they go in the direction of that mockup. I quite like it.

Yes... yes I know. I am quite aware of that.

The article does say the functionality of process-per-tab is planned to be implemented. Thank the lord, I get a bit tab-crazy, and when a web site makes your addons bork it's sort of a pain to lose them all.

Something overlooked on the whole "Let's get rid of the title bar and just use the tabs!" thing, is what about a website with a long name like
"The Game Creators Forum - Geek Culture - Firefox 4.0 -- Google Chrome (At least... the UI)"? Unless we can get a reliable tab-preview extension (that works on ALL OSes, not just Windows *grumble grumble*), then I'll stick with my classic view.
