I have the Asus P2-M3A3200 barebones which I initially got because of it's size as I just wanted something small and inconspicuous to sit in my room. I'm not a hardcore gamer but I do like to game every now and then and would like to be able to play current titles at medium settings. I have found a decent low-profile graphics card and only have a 17" monitor at the moment so it should be easily sufficient for that.

The only problem is that the barebones was sold in two verisons. The motherboard has a PCIe x16 slot on it, but needs a riser card to turn it so it fits in the case properly. The slot itself is back to front so if the card were plugged straight in then it would face into the case. One of the versions came with a HD 3450, the riser card for this version had a x16 connector on it. Because I didn't see any point in spending an extra £30 on an awful card which I would replace later anyway I went and bought the standard version. But for some stupid reason the riser card which comes with this version only has an x1 connector on it.

You can't buy replacement riser cards from Asus and the support forum provided no answers either. Although interestingly if you look close enough it turns out that all the holes for the x16 connector are there, just the ones not used by the x1 connector have been soldered over. Someone suggested soldering in a new connector but I don't fancy having to test out the 128 or whatever connections it has.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So basically, my question is would it be possible to get a reversed riser card which would fit my case because I am in desperate need of this graphics card?

Hmm... what about instead of a card, a cable?

I did initially think of that bit there are a couple of issues. THe first is that all the x16 cables i've seen are ribbon cables and so because of the width, it would need to be quite long so you could twist it through 180 degrees, unless of course they sell reversed ones. The second problem is that I have been told cables increase the response time and can cause issues, although I guess this issue still applies with a riser card as they are effectively the same thing.

But thanks for the suggestion, I might have another look see what I can find.

Why not fold it at a 45 degree angle? This would turn the card 90 degrees.

This one especially looks quite useful.
