So there have been two previous threads about the subject and opinions were mixed.

I've recently been exploring Twitter and I have to say, the opportunities for marketing are staggering, it is an absolute must for businesses and indeed individuals who aren't afraid to utilize social media to reach a wider audience.

In short I'm pretty blown away by how simple yet how powerful it has become. When you include some of the supporting tools in your arsenal you can effectively track your keyword campaigns, monitor your competition and provide a more accessible customer services program.

I'm just curious as to whether your opinion has changed like mine did ?

Feel free to swap your Twitter names here,
Mine is creativefail http://twitter.com/CreativeFail, I'm always interested in networking with like minded creatives.

I'm following the both of you

I think it would be great to get everyone here who has a profile to follow one another. Twitter names are being snatched up every passing second so i definitely urge people to grab a name and start following

Yea what's worse are accounts that are inactive, won't be removed right now. Like, I was trying to snatch up dab, but it was taken and its last tweet was 2 years ago. I was like 'what?'. I couldn't even use my alternative 'dabbers'. So I had to use my 3rd alternative

It really seems like a waste of time to me. I can do all the same things and way way way more by just hosting my own website.

Hi, it’s Robert with Stealthmod! You’ll be saying Stealth every time you use this mod! It’s like CoD! It’s like L4D! It’s like BioShock. A regular mod doesn’t work good – this works good and great.

The idea of twitter is not to replace or compete against a website, but to complement it. Because i'm subscribed (following) all the graphics websites, I get a daily feed of links to new tutorials, free media and wonderful portfolio examples.
Because they subscribe to me, I have a greater chance of featuring on their main website by making announcements which they receive.

I can also search my local region for what people are saying. i.e if someone talks about having a bad experience with a designer in my area, I can message him/her and introduce myself. I seriously recommend it to anyone looking for exposure, or a way of generating traffic to their website.

How? Why would you not just subscribe to their main website. Why would I want to follow an extra link. Seems like a waste of time.

I get what you mean by your second point though.

Because you can follow a whole bunch of people without going to each individual page. You can see what a whole bunch of different people are doing all in one place, rather than just one site at a time. Also, Twitter has info as it happens, instead of whenever the website updates. It's more live, and more community oriented instead of a single website at time.

@Wehtam, I'm now following you. (I'm @TylerConlee)

Nice, this is fantastic.

Come on everyone, grab a Twitter account and join this growing network, if we all follow one another imagine how easy it would be to spread the word about your current game developments or media releases

Seems I have no choice but to set one up when I get back from school. Although, I'll probably enjoy it for a while, then slowly drift away like I did with Myspace and other social crap.

Sometimes reading posts from Zeus or I will bring gut-wrenching laughter, drenched pants, and a full load of underwear.

Cheesecakes, particularly happy cheesecakes, deserve to have their voices heard on Twitter.

Yah, info about bathroom breaks and waiting in lineups--- fascinating stuff!

Can someone explain how to keep track of the Twitter accounts you're following? On the main page is just lists a bunch of them but doesn't show them all.

I'd only be interested in following game or music development related Twitters, not ones about the meal he just ate.

Most breaking news appears on Twitter way before mainstream news sites. On top of that, unlike Google, all the breaking stuff is immediately indexed/searchable. Whereas breaking stuff may not be picked up on/searchable by actual search engines for a good few hours
