Hey Guys,

I have been working on the music for this Metal Gear Solid fan film for about a year, today it was finally released. I would love to hear what you guys think of it all!

I will watch it tomorrow most likely, but from what I saw just jumping through the video it looks pretty awesome! The soundtrack sounds great too!

Epic, just epic. I have to say the production value is 10x what I expected it to be, being a no budget indie film.

The CG was excellent, better then I've seen on any TV made movies. Acting was great, and Snake's voice was uncannily like the real one.

You guys did an awesome job and I hope you continue with the next chapter of the story. I'm really interested in what happens next.

All in all I give this a 5 star rating. Great job!

The video\CG quality and the soundtrack are all excellent. What's up with the voice acting though? It sounds like every voice is overlaid onto the video...and they sound phony. Still, like Josh said, for an indie film this is amazing.

Dude, amazing work you should really consider taking this to the next level and getting this into an indie festival or publicly advertise this.

Haven't watched this yet, but how can I not because of all these awesome comments? I'll get on it as soon as I have some free time.

I am pretty sure if they can make films at this (no disrespect by this, its a compliment) almost pro level, they know well enough about the film festival circuit and advertising etc.

It's certainly one of the best game-to-movie movie I've ever seen. A kick in the crotch for hollywood that never seems to get it right.
Pleasantly surprised.

Now what if they make a fanmade game based on this?

In the beginning there was nothing. There'll be nothing in the end...

Although not a Metal Gear fan myself (I did complete the first one though!) I must say that was a fantastic film and for a fan film with no budget the effects were exceptional! Can't wait for part 2.

This movie was indeed epic. I can't wait for the next chapter...
You could see some glitches (mostly reflections and lenses), but it overall got close to a very professional level.
I would put up my three thumbs up if I had them, put posters of it in my chamber if they would be released, etc.
The music was also very high quality, and more importantly very fitting to the atmosphere of the moment.

The most funny part was the part after the ending credits.

Quote: "Dude: Hey Gary what's this button over here?
Gary: Don't press it, don't press it! I'm telling you!
Dude: Oh my god!
Gary: Nooo!
Dude: Aaaaaaaah!
Gary: Ah crap..."

Quote: "Snake: Row Row Row your boat, gently down the stream *singing*"

Quote: "Pierre: Snake... Could you explain one thing to me?
Snake: Yeah?
Pierre: Why are we standing in front of the window, during war time?
Snake: Mhm... Not sure.."

Quote: "Santa Claus: Are you Solid Snake? You're on my naughty list this year! You killed 17 people last month..."

Quote: "Pierre: Hey big chief... Don't you think this is ending an awful lot like the Two Towers?
Snake: Naah. Don't worry Pierre, I mean, it's not like they're gonna end on an upward panning shot... *camera to upward panning shot*
...against ephemeral music... *ephemeral music starting to play*"

That's what I call memorable :-P

@IanM: Yes we had a good laugh at this too, so decided to keep it in

I am really glad you guys enjoyed the film! I hope you all enjoyed the soundtrack just as much

Keep the comments rolling (they will have some impact on if part 2 gets made )

This movie is class. I don't know much about the MG games but as far as a movie goes this was awesome. Soundtrack was great.

I'm sorry but the acting really killed it for me. Everything else was fantastic though, especially the music.

I'm sure you prefer the acting in Far Cry?

Seems pretty cool so far, though I haven't had time to watch much of it.

I thought the acting was done well enough, what could have really improved it would have been some more work with ADR. The actor and voice of the senator seemed really disconnected, it just wasn't believable. And some scenes, like the one in which Snake is rowing and talking to Elizabeth, it felt like Snake's voice was right in front of me instead of outside rowing a boot in an open space. I liked the overall bassy effect on Snake's voice--reminded me of how The Dark Knight sounds a little bit--but it was a bit much for some scenes.
The foley was great overall, there were just a couple moments when I heard something that I thought I shouldn't have heard, even in the hyper-realistic sound world of an action movie (this is discounting the CLANKITYCLANKITYCLANK when they "go stealth" of course )

And I agree with everyone else, the 3d art was magnificent, as was the music. When you write the music, do you compose & orchestrate, and then sequence and program for Symphobia, or do you work straight in the sequencer? Or is writing with Symphobia even conducive to the standard process of orchestration? I'm taking orchestration right now, and using GPO for my sounds, but I've definitely had an eye on Symphobia for an upgrade in the future.

Anyway, superb job! I'm looking forward to Part 2!

I orchestrate as I go. The thing with Symphobia is that it is made up of ensembles, so you dont have access to individual sections, so what I will do is use Symphobia as my main filler of the sound then use other libraries for melody, where I have access to individual sections.
Oh I compose in the sequencer.

Not sure what you meant by this as I've never played Far Cry before, but I prefer acting that doesn't scream "student film!"

Perhaps with a budget we could have got some acting lessons....perhaps some famous actors....we did the best we could with what we had

I really liked it! I haven't ever played the games, but I really liked it. The voices were a bit weird. They didn't seem to come from the movie, but more as if they were narrating a conversation to me, which was kind of off setting. The acting was actually pretty good I thought. I've seen (sadly) tons of sci-fi movies with horrible acting, so this is superb.

Overall, I say keep it up. I didn't get a chance to watch the whole thing, due to homework but I might just have to catch the other part of it

Keep it up!
