Hello everyone!

Tomorrow is my birthday, and I have absolutely no idea of what I want to wish for... I have everything I could possibly need for game development, I have the newest computer, TV, CD player, MP3 player and sound system. Everything I need. What do you suggest a nearly 16-year old (I'm allowed to post my age, right?) geek should wish for? I'm not really into gaming (I'm not allowed to have any consoles), I'm definitely into game development.

I've got the usual birthday gifts, like a nice cake, some money, and lots of love from my family, but they said I should wish for something special for my 16th birthday, and I have no idea...

What do you suggest? Is it normal that you don't know what to wish for?

Absolutely. Then you come up with something you kinda want and then regret not getting something else six months down the line.

Perhaps your old enough to have a console now that you're nearly a man... and frankly your parents are weird for not allowing you to have a console in the first place. You may "not be into gaming" because they have stifled your youth by forbidding consoles. It's time to join the 21st century... ask for a Playstation 3, XBox 360, or Wii. PS3 is the way I'd go if I was you.

Ask for some cash and save it, and when you know what you want, spend it.

i'm definitely showing my age here but if i was young again and was offered the same wish, i'd ask to do something they might enjoy while, perhaps, broadening your own (and their?) horizons. ie, is there a Bluegrass Festival coming up or is Phantom of the Opera playing somewhere near? An obscure museum or showcase, followed by lunch/dinner?

you're obviously a creative person and anything like this is bound to contribute to your creativity while having the potential to become a serious interest of yours and, perhaps, one you can share with them for many years to come. it's also an opportunity for you to "give" instead of "receive" on your birthday. when you feel you've "got it all", there's usually someone to thank for that.

i'm guessing this isn't what "typical" teenagers have in mind, but i can't think of anything better. i told you i'm old!

Heh. My birthday is in a fortnight... I think I'm getting Borderlands for preorder as well as Forza 3.

But go with what Veron said, money is nice.

Happy Birthday to TheComet! Here is a console for you: and a helicopter . That's what I would ask for. A helicopter.

Mine is on the 25th, so pretty close to both of ya! I just preordered CitiesXL. Looks fun, and an early birthday present is the best kind of birthday present to me!

There's something in this room that makes you can't speak well.

Virtual Nomad makes a good point, but I might be a little too young to understand it...

Thanks everyone!
