Presumably everyone knows about David Blaine's next trick of being stuck in a glass box dangling from a crane over Tower Bridge for 44 days with no food, only water.

As most of his stunts have been proven to be illusions, including his ice cage stunt, any ideas if this one is real or is just an elaborate illusion.

I live in London and will be checking up on him from time to time!

Starts on 5th September on Channel4 / Sky.

I wonder if you will be able to see the safety harness - like you could when he was standing on the London Eye...

Anyone could do that - even me - if I was tied to it!

I'd appreciate links to how he pulled the illusions, he must be really good at staging him .

Personally I think it wouldn't be hard to cheat-- make the cable holding the cage up be a pipe which you can send food through!

A Budist monk onced fasted for over 50 years, he only drank tea, water, and had vitamin suplements. The water will probably be full of vitamins, but what's he gonna do about going to the bathroom?

Spray the inside of the cube with lots of coats of suger disolved in water?

Can't believe he actually makes any money from doing stuff like that.

Don't have any links but if memory serves well I think I remember the Ice Block one. Basically he was frozen in an Ice Block and stood there for a couple months with every morning having some dudes come around and keep the block cool. He basically survived by going out a trap door below him where there was a room with a TV, lots of food and a look-a-like to fill his place up in the Ice block. They'd trade places back and forth until the time was up.

Yeah you can say he's a DC magician clone, he's a US street magician and does feats like standing on a 24 metre high flagpole for 35 hours etc.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/tv_film/newsid_2001000/2001087.stm

Look closely at the top picture, looks like a statue to me, it's not blaine! From what I heard, at nights the the platform he's standing on would go inside the pole and a replacement statue / double would be substituted, in the morning they would swap around. Perhaps the "Masked magician" would expose this trick

So if you only starve yourself half way to the death limit its not hard?

Personally, I feel like I'm gonna turn inside out if I miss two meals in a row.

90 Days without food is only possible if you spend most of your time in hunger anyway, not if you are like the average westerner who eats 3 large meals a day and lots of in-betweens. You try and spend 24 hours without food and see how you feel.

Whatever I did I didn't do it!

Rofl, look at the fact file for the 35 hour pole trick:

Quote: " Only a 55cm circular platform to stand on

He has a hooded top to keep him warm

He's starved himself for four days

He'll go to the toilet through a tube

He has only a small bit of water with him

He has small metal handles to cling on to

When he comes down he'll jump onto the boxes below

"

Damn, I can't believe I missed him jump onto the boxes when he came down!

Edit: Accidentally pasted the quote too many times lol.

Ahhh, stuntmen still use cardboard boxes today. Tis as safe as houses. In fact, when I leave the house, I often throw cardboard boxes out of my window and dive onto them to save time.

He won't be jumping into it un-prepared if he is actually doing it and not cheating.

24 hours without food is easy, anybody could do it. 24 with out water isn't going to be a problem either if you arn't moveing or in heat.

Living 44 days on suger water and vitimins doesn't impress me much. The bigest problem I can see is bordem and starting to eat properly after the 44 days.

It's kinda odd he gets paid stupid ammounts of money for sitting in a box for 44 days with sugar water and vitamins while a lot of people don't eat a proper meal there entire lives and being it the situation he is in would be their idea of heaven.

I think Blane's "endurance" feats are pretty lame but if you have ever seen his slight-of-hand stuff or his illusion stuff it's pretty damned entertaining. He had a special on Discovery Channel a while back called "street magic", if you can find it anywhere give it a look.

that was the one where david blaine had to stand on a pole for a number of days, but he had a urinal tube going down, but that must mean he was drinking i guess,

the one where your talking about where they spray liquid oxygen over the ice to cool it down then they swap over people from underneath, thats the masked magician, who is rubbish, david blain is a different person
