There are some problem with level designing.

If I wanna tell you one this is good for you to re make your maps and make them correct.

There are some windows which another building make them half and it's not real.

that's right, that building is in the way of those windows, I can't believe I didn't notice. I can't really change the texture, but I'll add some space between the buildings. I've had windows into an alley before.

I think you have to stop continuing this project.
Firs fix all the designing problems then continue.
By looking at 4 screens I founded these problems and you can find more by yourself because I am seeing just some screens but you can play it easily.

And your streets has just a few cars and it's not real when you have lots of houses and skyscrapers in your city.
Add lots of cars.
If you can re-texture then you can easily change the colors of some cars and use them more than 1 time.

sadly, haveourguns, that level can't really be improved. it is so gigantic that it's passing the cap very often. it's tough to do indoor/outdoor levels and make them optimized, but as I said before, some corners will need to be cut because I need it to build, and I need it to run on something less than a crysis-worthy computer.

but no, I'm not going to stop continuing this project just because there are a few problems with the level design.

Why? Its a work in progress, if there are issues with it this is when they can be spotted and fixed.

As one of those around here who gets nit picked at for the slightest errors in my level design (I kind of expect it, but sometimes its not about the textures or effects maybe just a tech demo or whatever)
I am in fact grateful to some who spot mistakes I missed myself, its not easy getting everything right when you have so much to do creating a game on your own and I for one appreciate any help I can get fixing my level design.
However I see no reason to tell someone to stop continuing a project (maybe I am missing something here and your just playing around with the guy).

I dont see anything that cant be fixed and yes outsides levels can be a pain but not impossible. I would also like to point out that you wont find many cars parked around a city or town at night
Its just a game and super realism is not necessary

@ Rolfy,I said:
Quote: "I think you have to stop continuing this project.

But you quoted just the first sentence.
@Bugsy,
I mean it's better to solve the problems before developing it.
While solving problems you'll be more experienced than before and you will make less mistakes.
For example now the levels which needs to edit and fix are 4 and it needs 4 days to solve but after being experienced you need 2 days for each 4 levels and it make you faster and better.
Sorry I had to use developing not stopping so now I say do not make new levels until you fixed your levels then you can make levels faster and better than before.
If your levels are huge then break them to 2 levels like what I say:
First find a good place for finishing the half of your level.
Second delete the second half and save it as a new level(For example level 1-1).
Then again open your huge level but this time delete the first part and save it as Level 1-2.
So the level 1 is now level 1-1 and level 1-2 so you have 2 smaller levels and can add lots of details.

@Rolfy again,
I will send a screenshot from our alley at night.
you can see too many cars

Where do you live? There are always cars parked outside in towns and cities at night near me. In fact I'd go as far as to say there are more cars parked at night than in the day, but this is clearly something that varies between countries.

I'll admit, differing numbers of night-cars are parked about depending on the night, but the actual day it is when the game happens is never mentioned, so we'll just say it's a friday.

also, I won't be separating the levels, because I want to keep the file size of this game down so people will actually download the whole thing before realizing it's not really worth the wait.

I have no doubt this will be worth the wait. If I'm not mistaken, this is the longest-running FPSC Development! (Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't know about many older FPSC projects)

If you make a level with 2 rooms and again the same rooms in 2 separate levels then the repeated models, segments, textures, etc will store once and just a very small file of your map will be doubled and it wont be more than 1 MB.
If you don't like my idea then nothing will happen to me but you can try,if it was bad then tell me what you want.
And something else:As FPSC has a problem with unloading extra polygons then in huge levels even you are in a small room the polygon count will be to much so the system requirements will be upper than when you have 2 smaller levels.

Quote: "I'll admit, differing numbers of night-cars are parked about depending on the night, but the actual day it is when the game happens is never mentioned, so we'll just say it's a friday."

And @Rolfy,
So there is no need to put an image from parked cars at night.

that's just it. I don't repeat stuff if I make separate levels. it's kind of dumb to watch a 60 second loading screen just to see that you're in the same building again; I like to mix things up level by level.

with being gone so long from FPSC, I need some time to recompose my level design skills. I'm going to work on putting together a little mini-project to get back in the swing of design- you can check it out HERE:

With the new "Defy the Odds" competition in the works, WWC's hiatus will be extended, as well as "The Rapture" which will be paused until I can be bothered to keep working with it. I need to focus my efforts solely on my project for the competition so I can win, buy media, and make WWC better with it.

Is this thread still alive? Anyways, Hey Bugsy! I love your game, please don't stop making it! I know you need some time since you have been away for a while, but don't give up on this project just yet! I will surely download this when it comes out! Also, very nice rig you have. I need to get a better graphics card, but it works for now...

this project is not dead. I've decided just to release a screenshot of level 8 at this point, just to make sure nobody gives up hope on waiting. good things take time, bluh bluh, etc. screen showcases redesigned level 8, along with vignette hud and new fullscreen shader. please note it's a WIP.

This looks great Bugsy! Glad to see the project is not dead!

Oh, and you might want to change the texture of the segments to a more seamless one. So it does not look repetitive.

@ exu- it is actually seamless, just a little bit less blendy when vertical. I did that on purpose, but if enough people don't like it I'll change it
