Its a good start, but I really didn't find it very funny. I think it has potential, but you've got some work to do.
First off, cut down on the "
uh... we're gonna hunt and
uh... I like huntin' and
uh... huntin' is my favorite sport and
UHHHHH..." I understand its part of the character, but that will get VERY annoying to most viewers as the video moves along. Either do the "Uhh..." less often, or find something else for him to say often. A catch phrase would serve you well. For example, Elmer Fudd says "SHHHH! be very very quiet. I'm hunting Rabbits." Anything other than just "uhh..." every two words.
Second, try and put more action into the show. When you get right down to it, it was just a guy standing in front of two different backgrounds talking for five and a half minutes. As was already said, try and get a camera operator so you can walk through the woods. A person standing there talking will get boring with all but the best dialogue.
Third, with the title being "Night Hunting", I expected to see him do some hunting. I know its unrealistic to REALLY go out and shoot animals
just for your show, but getting some footage of deer or turkeys or moose or whatever running off through the woods, mixed in with shots of your character walking through the woods, would make the show much better. You dont have to even really see any animals in person. Just footage of them in any capacity will greatly improve your show.
You may already be planning this, but try and get more people to act in your show. Having a hunting partner for the character to talk to would drastically increase the quality of the show. With more than one character, there can be conflict, there can be friendship, there can be arguments or funny banter. One person does not equal a show. Or at least not a very good one.
As I said, I think its a very good start, and you show potential. If you did this entirely by yourself, then Im actually impressed at the quality.
Get more people involved. Even if you can't find anyone willing to act or do camera work on the show, simply having others helping you write the script will tremendously improve your material. And even if can't find anyone willing to do that, just bounce ideas off of friends or relatives. "Hey Bill, Im writing this script, and I had this idea. What do you think of blah blah blah as a joke? What do you think of yak yak yak for a plot? What if so-and-so got into a fight with whats-his-name?"
That type of thing.
All in all, a good start. Keep at it!
