What's everyone's opinion on the new MMO Aion? Is anybody else hooked like I am?

I've bought it and made a Sorcerer (you shall all die in the Abyss) and I LOVE it! An incredible game with amazing gameplay mechanics, I'm already hooked. The leveling system is SLOW, but it has enough quests to make it so grinding is avoidable.

Does anybody else play? If so, what's your favorite class? I prefer Sorcerer, but I have a good team put together with my friends so I don't die by melee.

Also, has anybody hit the Abyss yet? I've only made it to level 16 (EPIC FAIL) and one of my friends is currently in the Abyss and he won't let me watch

I've seen ads for it all over the place, though I haven't bothered to actually look into it. Is the combat like Everquest, where you just click on the enemy and the battle pretty much fights itself, or do you actually do something yourself?

I'm working on Swordfight again! Come tell me what you think!

I don't care enough to spend any of my time on it.

I played a little bit of it during the beta. The character customization is quite impressive, and damn if the game doesn't look good.

Past that, it feels very WoWish, with the game holding your hand for nearly everything except PvP. That's not to say it's a bad thing, I can't say anything bad about WoW's design, given its popularity and success.

Apparently the later levels become a major grindfest as quests that give a decent amount of experience become fewer and far between, which seems to be the par for many MMOs from overseas.

Though I can't say anything too bad about that either. My favorite MMO was FFXI and it was the same case too.

Played it till about level 21, then lost interest because there are only like 4 quests I could do, and the rest of them involved grinding my gathering skills which was impossible because there were a million others doing the same thing... Or boring repeatable quests, which were also being done by a million others. And amusingly enough I can't find anything in the game that can keep my interest, the crafting is beyond lame, the combat offers nothing special I haven't seen or done before, and their major selling point, which is flight is blocked in at least 80% of the zones you go to...

Played a Cleric, Assassin, Templar, Mage and Spirit master, so don't start whining I didn't give the game a chance... It's also pretty buggy and slow at times, and the graphics quality in the movies looks a lot better then it does for real on highest.

I feared that was the case, too many games are like that. Though I haven't played many online games myself, I've observed a great deal of them being played by a friend of mine (who is obsessed with them). Most of the time I can't tell when he's switched to a different game, because the gameplay is pretty much the same in all of them.

But to be honest:

Isn't that always the case?

If the game would be interesting enough to even GET at that level I'd try it, but I'm not a big fan of Player Versus Player so that's not really a solution to me. And that's not a solution, it's something some people look forward to, but in a game that bores me to death I'm not going to endlessly grind the same few quests for HOURS just to gain a level.

Which is the game's biggest problem.

Between exams and study I have managed to get my gladiator to level 38. And my sorcerer to level 27, have a 11 cleric I don't play on though.
Its the best mmo I've played in my life. When you get to 21 it does become waaayy harder to level. You have to roam regions looking for quests tbh. Tip: Pop exp buffs, ring your girlfriend, talk on the phone while grinding for 2 hours
