Hey everyone,

I've decided to upgrade my current computer so that it can be ready to run Windows 7. Also, upgrading it will be somewhat cheaper than buying a totally new one, and I like saving money.

Now, I know little to nothing about computer hardware and I have no idea how to identify RAM or the Motherboard, which is important because that's where a computer's power lies.

What I do know about the computer is that I can easily upgrade the graphics card with a PCI-E card, the hard drive is definitely upgradeable (they always are ), the DVD drive, and other small things like that. I really just need to know how to identify my motherboard and RAM so that I can buy a compatible processor and such. I'll see if I can post pics in a bit.

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!

Go to start-run and type in dxdiag.exe, you should have all the info in there.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, this computer isn't nearly as upgradeable as I thought.
It would be worth it to get an entirely new machine. I'd have to replace practically everything in this machine to make it better and more powerful, and I don't have the patience to do that.

Guess I'll just buy the new desktop. Thanks anyway!
