Project Name: Black Myst
Summary: A horror game brought with my own pop up style as you'll see whilst you walk around. I'm trying a couple new techniques for level creation to allow me to create a wide range of new experiences for the user.

The download contains just a basic blank level with grass and fog turned on, but I'm wondering what FPS people will get? I'm getting a steady 66fps but my computer is quite new. If there are quite a few people with low fps, I'll add something to lower the poly count and special effects.

--------Controls:-----------
Arrow Keys / WASD - to walk
Mouse - look around
Shift - Run
-----------------------------------

66fps

specs:
AMD Athlon64 X2 4200+ 2.2Ghz
2GB DDR2 RAM
Geforce 9800GT

I like the graphical style, I think the pop up feature could work well together with judicious use of fog.

One major turn off for me was the weird locked mouse controls. If you're going to use the mouse to control the camera in a first person game it really should be direct input mouselook IMO. The current mouse controls are not 'innovative' or 'horror-enhancing', just really annoying.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to what's next.

3gb RAM, AMD quad something... sorry, I really dont know
nvidia 8800.

I liked it, but I did not like how if you held down turn, you kept on turning after you let go.

Cool pop-up(LOD?) system. I'd like to see objects and buildings pop up the same way.

I was getting 48fps when I first started the program, but after a few seconds I got a steady 66fps.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 DC 4400+
2047mb ram
ATI Radeon HD 3800

Ah, and the mouselook was so sensitive it was hard to look around. Also widescreen support would be nice.

Any other Windows 7 users try this? I've tried running in compatibility / administrator mode. Get the monitor blink in/out that happens with some DBP games on startup, then this error

Runtime Error 7008 - Object does not exist at line 140.
Object Number Not Found: 32

Good thing TGC says they won't support Windows 7!

For the next build I'll try creating a subroutine to re-create missing objects, that might help.. hopefully.

Thanks for the details and ideas, i'll edit the angle change to make it sharper.

Most people seem to get 66fps, but i'll reduce the effects a bit (so i can add trees etc.. and not make too much of a difference) along with adding an additional option at start up for high/medium/low specs, in the next build.

I'd love to share the story, but I sort of want to keep it secret till you've completed the game xD.

In conclusion the next build will include:
-----
Menu - {New Game / Load Game / Settings / Exit}
Settings = Changing graphics
-----
First objective/puzzle
Fixed mouselook / left right keys
trees - to test how they look popping up
one ******* <-- that's a secret

Oh BTW, the turning moves a bit too fast. Everything else is beautiful.
