Usually there a scam! Or they require you to complete like heaps of surveys before getting $1.00! There are a few that do work, but they instead make you earn points which in turn you can use to purchase gifts (pretty crappy ones at that!).

Just to be on the safe side I'd steer clear unless you know for sure it's legit!

I do this.. I'm a poor student you see. The best one I find is lightspeed.com unlike others you don't have to wait until you get £10 or whatever to with draw your money, you can withdraw it whenever you want. And they give you lots of surveys, so if you just leave your money and forget about it it soon adds up. Definately worth a look in my opinion

Depends on the length. You get say 80 points for a survey, then you exchange your points for money into your paypal account.. Or you can buy things with these points. As they say in TV, points make prizes

@ TillyLala: That sounds pretty cool, purely because I am also now a poor student

In your experience, however, how much are the "lightspeed points" approximately equal to? Is it a couple of pence or are they quite large amounts (e.g. £1) per point?

I'm guessing the former, but it would be nice to know their exactly value before signing up (since they cleverly avoid mentioning their monetary value)

Well, i have about 340 points in my account at the minute (which isn't bad since i withdrew the rest a couple of week ago) and I can claim this back for £3.00.. Sometimes you get surveys for about 110 points, sometimes it's just 80. It's worth it though for a few extra pennies. It'll buy you a pint at least!

Lol, not that many. I get a few surveys sent to me a week.. I just click them while i'm watching tv or something so it's not like i have to take special time to do them. Every little helps

Hmm, seems interesting, so how long would it take to earn say like $10. I always see these websites with pictures like I got an Xbox for doing surveys! In time though is it like after 8 hours you get like $4. Also how do these sites prevent bots/macros from just earning money I have always wondered that?

Off topic: one day, ill just buy a 1x1 sq foot, put a mail box on it and get an address for it. I will then set up an email linked to that address and sign up for all those free internet scams.

You're not doing it for free. You're doing them a favor (Filling out surveys that they use in marketing research or other things) and they pay you for it.

I've never done it, but my wife's mother used to do it. You just have to find the right one.
I found this site:
http://www.ivetriedthat.com/
he has a list on there somewhere of recommended survey sites.

yougov.co.uk if you're a UK citizen seems to be alright. I doubt I will ever see money off it (you rarely get surveys, or maybe I just qualify for very few based on the introductory survey as you have to say things, like for example I don't own any apple products and I don't watch TV and the like) but on the other hand it's definitely legit. Like I say though, I wouldn't expect any return on your time any time soon with this site...
