I was hoping this thread would be made soon.
Personally, I found it one of the freakiest horror movies I've ever seen. Here's why:
I didn't see it in a movie theater. I know, flame all you want, hang me, I don't care. I was given a DVD copy of it (DVD quality, no cam) and watched it alone, in a pitch black room, late at night, with headphones. It was also the original ending, not the Spielberg ending (not sure what his ending is like). It really freaked me out. Seriously. . .
As far as the ending goes:
SPOILER
In the original, the last day, she decides "it'll be better if we stay. :)"
Then, during the night, she gets up, stands there for over three hours staring,
walks downstairs and screams a terrible scream. He wakes up and rushes to see
what's going on. You hear him scream, then silence. You hear a loud walking sound
coming up the stairs and she walks through the door with a kitchen knife in hand
and blood on her shirt.
She proceeds to sit against the bed on the floor and slowly rock back and forth
in silence. Eventually, her friend comes to check on them, finds the husbands
body, runs screaming. The cops come, see her with the knife, and shoot her when she freaks.
How is that different from the theater ending?
