I went tonight to see this and I normally love ghost movies like this that are demonic and stuff that will creep the hell out of you, this time I was disappointed. The ending ruined it. Plus, there was no element of surprise to the movie at all, it always played the same freakin' sounds before something happened. I have seen scarier from the show "A Haunting" on Discovery Channel, scratch that, Spongebob Halloween specials are scarier. Don't waste your money on this.

That's definitely the first time I heard any negative thing about this movie. I thought it was great. I wasn't scared at all because I just don't generally get scared when I go see any movie but I know butt loads of people that couldn't go to sleep without a light on that night.

Signature's are stupid.

I watched it last night, and as soon as it ended, I was out of the mood. It was a good attempt at the Blair Witch thing, but nothing comes close to that movie.

Thing I hated most about this movie was how much of a, for lack of an expletive ridden phrase, idiot the guy was. He was such a moron. Not only in his decision making, but his personality sucked. I came away thinking that the movie was cool, and had some good bits, but the constant feeling of frustration at the idiot guy and his attitude.

Wow, he was so annoying. At one point of the movie I summed up the room's attitude towards it,[not a spoiler]

Frustrating, but had some cool bits.

I saw it tonight with my wife. I don't know if I would ever call any movie that I have seen scary, but this was better than most.

The guy was a bit annoying, but hey... lots of people are annoying. So I can't knock it for that!

I was hoping this thread would be made soon.

Personally, I found it one of the freakiest horror movies I've ever seen. Here's why:

I didn't see it in a movie theater. I know, flame all you want, hang me, I don't care. I was given a DVD copy of it (DVD quality, no cam) and watched it alone, in a pitch black room, late at night, with headphones. It was also the original ending, not the Spielberg ending (not sure what his ending is like). It really freaked me out. Seriously. . .

As far as the ending goes:

I saw the original ending one. I didn't really think much of this film, and one of the comments made was like "One of the scariest films ever" bah, how wrong that was.

@Zeus,

Aww! So that's where you were last night. I assume you strayed from the original plan and went alone?... Well this sucks, now I gotta go see a movie that I didn't want to see in the first place that's gonna suck and without a buddy.

On second thought, I just won't go. My girlfriend might be disappointed for me not going, but she'll get over it.

... Maybe...

I hated it too. Anything that tries too hard to scare you normally doesn't.

I have only seen the trailer but it reminded me a lot of noroi. A horror movie filmed in a "documentary" style and I thought that one was good so I'll probably see this one, maybe.

If you enjoyed Blair Witch Project, you'll probably enjoy this. Of course, if you watch it with obnoxious people in the theater, you won't.

The guy was definitely a douchebag, and unfortunately because of that and the psychic's visit, they pretty much telegraphed the ending.

Hmm, I don't know if I would've liked the original ending better than the theatrical version or not.

This movie just goes to show how far you can go with subpar visuals so long as your sound design is up to snuff and ventures just far enough into hyperrealism to get the message across.

Did anyone else find it a little weird that during dialogue sequences, the voices sounded muffled in a way that was realistic for the type of equipment they were using to record, only to have the sonic palette double as soon as "the thing" started knocking things around? It was effective in freaking people out, but it definitely killed some of the immersion for me.

I saw clips of it and it looked pretty shoddy to me.
Why are the only low budget movies that do well in the US horror films? They do ridiculously well in fact!
I am so bored of hollywood films, I swear they have about five scripts and they just change the names every few years.
The Che films are really good, watched part 2 last night.
