Hey how come half my thread pics as well as my sig has now been erased? It must be lower than 1mb in size, its rediculas! I reckon they should go back to how it previously was...

Your signature has been erased by a mod - 1.1MB for an image is too much - try something under 150kb

How so?

AFAIK there has been no formal change to the rules, the 1MB thing is probably an unwritten law, and not an unjustifiable one.

1MB is a bit much for a signature image yes... I never managed to get a 600*120 image larger then 512kb.

1MB is tiny. It practically means that you cant have any form of animated image. It has also erased all my png type images. The only remaining file format is jpg and bmp.

Imagine if everyone had a 1MB sig, and you tried to open a page with 20 or 30 sigs. Seems like a very reasonable limit to me.

Especially for those with usage limits. I think after four pages' youd be 404'd

> 1MB for a sig is too much. Anyone reading a thread containing a post by you has a 1 MB overhead, and most won't want to see your sig. Your Photobucket images are all displaying "Bandwidth Exceeded", this suggests your images could be better optimized.

PNGs are not very well compressed, you should stick with jpg where possible. 95% quality will be high enough, and reduce the image size immensely.

Animated sigs don't need to exceed 1MB if done right, it sounds like you've tried to do too much or used some bad software to make it.

When I had an animated gif as my signature image it was only 76kb. So animation is definitely possible.

Its just incredibly annoying that a ton of my sigs and pics have just been erased with no warning and it'll take a week for my mate to remake and upload them all. I just wish a bit of warning was given, thats all.

What pictures were deleted? Do you mean all the ones that have disappeared and have the "upgrade to pro image" instead?

At least they were nice enough to advertise their own services on all the images they removed without warning you!

All the pictures that have been replaced with the "upgrade to pro" message were removed by photobucket because they want you to pay for a 'better' service. It has nothing to do with any of the moderators.

Then why have the photos which were uploaded using 3 different IP addresses (not using a code on 2 of them) all been reset at the same time as the others?

Are they all using the same photobucket account? If yes then that's why!

Why do you think a moderator would remove your image and replace it with an advert to use photobucket pro?

I can assure you none of the mods "erased" your pics from your server.

Seriously, the new image explains everything. The mods didn't do it, you caused it yourself by using a crappy image service and exceeding your bandwidth. Every time your sig is displayed it uses some of your Photobucket bandwidth. If you want a reliable sig image then attach it to one of your posts. Problem solved.

Big signatures are annoying. It just causes people to disable signatures. What animation do you have that's so important to show us that it needs to be bigger than 1mb? Optimize it.

No one thinks animated sigs or avatars are cool. They are so annoying.

Your mother has been erased by a mod because it's larger than 600x120

How did you even get that error with photobucket. All of my images I post, that are a part of my sig and avatar are linked from photobucket. I also have over 300 images, all linked with 400 views average a day...

Your images must be ridiculously large in order to get that bandwidth error message.

Edit: Just checked, you get 10gb of bandwidth on a free account...lol

Use tinypic. No ads, no farting about, no limits, no price.

You obviously do, photobucket requires you to log in before you upload any images.

Your sig image location is:

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn120/daxter849/Ertty.gif

Mods can't delete your images, they can only remove the html that displays it. The image is still wherever you put it - in this case, it's on a Photobucket server.

If your image is 1MB, then every time somebody displays a thread with a post of yours, it takes 1MB of your allowance, plus a small overhead for every time it's repeated on the page for multiple posts. Given the average post view is around 200, that's over 200 MB per thread.

The answer is simple - make your sig a decent (smaller) size and attach it to a post as Cash says.

If your friend doesn't understand how GIFs work, that may be the biggest part of your problem. Each frame should only store the differences, not the whole image. Colours should be blocked and simple, animation should be selective.

Those may be ones uploaded by my mate. Is it possible to upload .gif (animated ones) to this site to then use as sigs and other things?

Im sure one of those images was uploaded using image shack (the F.R.A.G. Gaming one)

lol, that effect in Adobe After-Effects is soo old. Man, I hate it how people just follow co-pilots tutorial's and don't bother to experiment further with them to make them unique.

@Arenas,

Quote: "Your signature has been erased by a mod - 1.1MB for an image is too much - try something under 150kb"

That was me.

Quote: "Its just incredibly annoying that a ton of my sigs and pics have just been erased with no warning"

That wasn't me. Only you and photobucket staff have access to your photobucket account, unless you naively gave your account details to someone else, so only you or photobucket staff are to blame.

Now, I've just cleared your sig AGAIN for exactly the same reason. If I have to do so again, I'll simply ban your account to save me wasting my time on you.

All this for an annoying, hard to read advertisement for an FPSC mod?
