Well, what do you think?

AMD Athlon II X4 620 Propus 2.6GHz
GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
4 GB DDR3 1333
PNY VCG951024GXEB GeForce 9500 GT 1GB 128-bit DDR2

Running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit (and I really do like it. ) I totally skipped Vista, but I'm already loving Win7.

That all cost me $483.61. I would have liked to get the Phenom chip, but I really couldn't justify the extra cost. So far, this chip I've got is doing fantastic.

I'm still using the same case, power supply (will upgrade it soon), hard drive, and monitor. I'm installing the XP mode since I have some really old programs from Windows 3.1 days that I want to use, and they work with Windows XP.

Um. You do realize we are in a 3.x GHz age, right? 2.6 is rather weak compared to today's standards. Your graphics card is pretty decent though.

Um. You do realize we are in a quad core age, right? 3.x is rather irrelevant these days.

And I've got the same graphics card, running with 2gHz memory clock alongside a single core 1.8 Athlon64 upped to 3.9. The graphics card is STILL the bottleneck on Fallout 3.

Athlon64 2.7gHz->OC 3.9gHz, 31C, MSi 9500GT->OC 1gHz core/2gHz memory, 48C, 4Gb DDR2 667, 500Gb Seagate + 80Gb Maxtor + 40Gb Maxtor = 620Gb, XP Home
Air cooled, total cost £160

...And this particular CPU can be easily overclocked. I haven't done it yet, as I really don't see the need right now. At $99, you just can't get a better chip for your money, IMO.

Agreed. 2.6GHz is enough to do a lot of decent work, especially with video editing. Definitely can't beat $99 for that!

I don't know much about AMD, but it seems like a good system. Congrats.

I still use a C2D 2.6ghz, works just fine. Quad core chips are still irrelevant today I think. Nothing really uses them to their potential yet.

Nice setup. Can't offer much advise on your motherboard, I'm not as familiar with the AMD chipsets.
