Sounds like a re-install would do you some good, but probably worth setting 100gb of that for an XP install, where you can have DBPro and modelling packages etc.

No matter how good your virus software is, a virus will often leave poop behind, in your registry for example, or even just as a file. But the main thing is to start out neat, and try and keep it neat - that way it's easier to avoid getting swamped and saves time in the end. For instance, deciding where to put the projects folder. You could put it in beside C:\Program Files\thegamecreators\darkbasic pro\projects - or - c:\Projects. I have to find my current project in it's folder all the time, in explorer, when saving files etc; shaving a few seconds off that shaves about 80% off the annoyance factor.

Format your hard drive and start over on a clean slate. The pc specs themselves are fine by the sounds of it.

Yeah, I vote for reformat too. I've been meaning to wipe my desktop when I get back from college for winter break. Sounds like you got a rockin' machine.

@Van B:
Have you tried out DBPro or DarkGDK on Windows 7? I've been wanting to pick up Windows 7 for the student price, but I'm wary since I'd also like to keep using my beloved TGC apps.

Nah, I'm die-hard XP - I haven't even looked at the Win7 compatibility thread yet. I do plan on going Win7 before very long, even from the little experience I have with it - I can tell it's gonna go onto be the major OS that replaces XP, Vista is just WinME for the noughties IMO.

Haha, I like your analogy to WinME, I'll save that talk for Leadwerks' thread though. Over the summer I went to look for my mother's old computer to get a Windows OEM key for installing on a machine I was building . . . but then to my horror I found that it was an ME sticker on the case.

Try throwing in a period every now and then.

Anyway, I recommend a format. It would take ages to sift through\scan those 500 gigs.
