Liverpool 1 - 1 Lyon, how? HOW! Sorry I made this thread but if there are any other Liverpool fans on this board, feel free to cry and moan and complain here.

FIRST: kyriakos was rubbish all night. Only Reina managed to make up for his mistakes.

SECOND: Why take torres off for the last 5 minutes, I mean serously?

THIRD: I would of liked to see aquilani featured at somepoint.

Oh well we will be very lucky if we qualify now. Bad job liverpool, great play until the last 3 minutes.

I'd assume Football (or 'soccer' for the crazy people who have the wrong idea about football ).

Normally when people in the UK refer to a city (which is usually the name of the football club) on the context of a sport, the sport is football.

Though I hear Liverpool likes interpretative dance. I can see Gerrard doing that on the pitch right now.

Hmm Chelsea vs Liverpool - Lampard frolicks on the pitch before leaping into the air and Gerrard catches him - it seems Lampard has the lead on this dance, will Gerrard step up his game so that Liverpool may get into the semi-finals? Or will they go home as the losers? With a broken heart and tearing away the dreams of the boy who got stuck down the well. Little Timmy is rooting for you Gerrard! Don't let him down my son!

I think that the American's should re-name there sport. Its more like rugby than football. How does american Rugby sound. And then the americans would call our rugby rugger or "Put the ball down in the other end with a ball that we call a football even though it looks like a rugy ball."

Isn't the correct term for American football "Gridiron"? And just to add more confusion the Australians have their own version of football called "Australian rules football" which is a lot more like rugby than American Football is. Oh, and the proper name for rugby is "rugby football" and (soccer) football is "association football". Furthermore, there's "rugby union" and "rugby league".

Americans have the wrong idea about football.

It's called football because it is a game played using only your feet. Get it? No running around with a wrongly shaped ball, killing eachother and "touching down".

Jeku always gets drunk and tries to Moderate the ocean. Tirelessly slapping the waves as they roll in.

It surprises me too, you'd think a French team would have done better than a draw with an English team.

Don't forget the amazing amounts of padding Americans use.

Too bad I don't care about football. I probably would have liked to get into the "crazy American" version discussion.

I have a brother who is tied to his team at the hip. If they're winning, life is good. If they're having a bad season, his life is not worth living. It must suck when you have no life and have to live vicariously through a sports team. Anyway, that was totally off topic.

I for one am VERY happy that Liverstool are failing in Europe. They say every season that they don't win the flag, "Oh, but we know how to play in Europe!". It's nice to see them lose everywhere hehe.

Carn Chelsea

On the sport topic, I do get rather irritated when the Rugby League fans here in Queensland, AUS, call it "Footy". No, it's not footy. The ball is kicked a small percentage of the time. It should be called Throwy or Thugby or something more accurate like that. Aussie Rules Football is footy, cause they kick it more than anything else.

Queenslanders.

I'm going to have to disagree here, Aussie Rules is nothing like Rugby. Gridiron is definitely more comparable, our version is a whole new kettle of fish that is unlike anything ever seen before.

I don't like American football, but I'm not one of these Brits who think it's 'Rugby with armour'. American football is way more aggressive than Rugby, and impacts are much much harder. Which is actually one of the reasons why I don't like it. It's a good playground for jocks with attitude problems to just smash each other. It's a breading ground for thugs, imo!

Aussie Rules is Rugby for people with a screw loose and total lack of respect for the preservation of their own spine.

Rugby is tame by comparison to both of them, with the only exception being ear chewing and neck snapping in the scrums.

There're my two totally off-topic cents.

I'm American and I think all sports are useless. I can't stand it when people say "We won!" when I know they didn't actually play the game themselves... they just watched it happen.

Eh, they're fun to play with peers of a similar skill level, it's just the fandom and obsession over a lot of them that i don't like.
