Okay, this is VERY frustrating. I own three machines, all clean with XP Professional SP3 on them, one of them is freshly formatted. On each one I installed the demo for X-Quad Editor and, one each one, when I run it, I get this. Note that I get this within a few moments of double-clicking on the icon to run it:

The first thing that pops up is Window '1', then when I click on 'click here' I get Window '2', then when I click on 'click here' on Window '2', I get Window '3'.

I've attempted to contact Odyssey-Creators, attempted to access their website, and nothing for either of them. I want to know if this product is still valid, and still supported. If it's not, I won't waste my time.

If my tone is harsh, it's because I'm frustrated. My apologies. Any advice or insight is appreciated. Thanks for your time.

@ChristianRoule:
Hello
I've never heard of this problem under WinXP.

Don't forget that you need to have latest DirectX 9.0C and latest PhysX drivers to have XQuadEditor to work properly.

If you have any bug report to do, do them at : support (at ) odyssey-creators ( dot ) com
I will try to fix them for the release of the end of the year.

Additional not : for informations, Odyssey-Creators does no more exist as a company (the trademark remain my property, I didn't sell it) and TheGameCreators bought the product so, they're now the legal owner of the product.

Freddix

Always? Sounds unlikely.

In this user's case I guess his files are in a user folder with a name longer than 8 characters like christian perhaps? The system (DOS I suppose) then shortens that to christ~1 which has 8 characters.

If you really did mean "always" then I can't help you.

@Green gandalf : you're right.

@ChristianRoule : is your issue fixed with DirectX9 update and PhysX drivers installed ?

@Freddix:

No, it does not work. I am using the latest version of DirectX (10 or 11), the latest version of PhysX, and a less than year old NVidia card.

@Gibba gobba: X-Quad shouldn't assume your user directory is "CHRIST~", unless you installed it to that directory, or copied another users directory. Kinda seems a bit odd.

@ChristianRoule: A shot in the dark, but maybe there are updated drivers for your gfx card. Also the direct x that comes with xp is very old. Even if you have direct x 10 or 11, you still need directx 9.0c. Couldn't seem to get the demo running at all on win7.

Edit: Also, what demo are you using? The only demo I've seen was the game.exe one, and I noticed your demo is labelled "XQuadEditor.exe."

@ChristianRoule,
You need DirectX 9 too - having 10 or 11 doesn't mean you have 9 installed (blame Microsoft for that).

There's a link to the correct page on Microsoft's site in DBPro release details thread in the first post.

My response was to this:
Quote: "@Freddix:

... though having read earlier posts, I now have to wonder exactly how he got DX10 or 11 on XP.

I have DirectX 9 installed, the latest video card drivers, etc. Everything is up to snuff and still nothing.
