In my java class at school, I kinda need to transfer files from my home computer to the class computer to keep up to date on what i'm doing. Normally, i would take a zip file, upload it, then download it on the other computer. Unfortunately, the Mac computers at my school don't allow you to open up .zip files (but you can still create zip files and download them... >.> )

So, my question is if there is any way to circumvent this. It's reeally annoying, and my teacher doesn't want to (or doesn't know how to) give permission to unzip files.

I think if i can find an uncompressed .exe (err, the mac equivalent of a .exe, whatever that is) that doesn't need any installation, then i can get this to work. I can upload the .zip file, or move the .zip file, i just can't unzip it :X

Open the zip as a text file and manually extract it.

Yeah I was wondering why they needed to be compressed

If they must be compressed, then tar it, it's how all the cool Mac kids do it (or rather, *nix geeks). Here's the command-line program gtar for windows: http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gtar.htm
The macs should be able to untar out of the box, otherwise you've got some messed up Macs there.

It doesn't have to be compressed, i just usually upload it as a single file to some hosting site, and download it from another comp.

I'll try .tar files tomorrow

Well if it's a Java class than I assume you have access to a Java compiler, and fortunately the standard library has a ZipFile class! Make yourself an extractor, could be a fun project.
