Wowzers! It has been 11 months since my last login. (thank you Grog for clearing that up. )

Well, I'm truly sorry for my severe absence from TGC, but this computer has been giving me troubles. (a lot of troubles.)
Now, in this dark hour, I am saddened to report that I have officially given up my time as a game developer. I've tried to scrounge up what I could to get myself back together after endless convulsions of anger against this computer of mine, and it just isn't getting any better.
so I ultimately gave up game making due to old, outdated computer that's absolutely NO help.

[sarcasm]So that's 90 US dollars well spent.[/sarcasm]

Be that can't mean I shouldn't come back here. I mean, TGC forums is about more than just game design.
Instead of game design, I'm taking up an alternative.
This Christmas, I'm set to get a new graphics tablet which I'll use to start work on my new interest:
WebComics!

I've already got quite a selection of upcoming works I'd like to share with you. In the view icon is the title card for one of them. (it's in pencil, though.)

Does anyone even read these things anymore?

Yes. That was in fact me. I'm that "ambitious kid" who tried worthlessly to defend T3DGM, (which is nothing to me now.)
It's over. H.O.E is officially dead. just like all my other projects.

All my projects, either FPSC or T3DGM - Dead Forever

Bah, I deny ever trying to make them. They were all bad ideas from the start!

well, while I'm still on the topic of game design, I might as well say this.

I'm going to try to get back into using DarkBASIC. And this time, I'm willing to try hard on my efforts. (I figured out how to get DB to work. )

I don't care how long it takes, or how much blood, sweat, tears etc. it's going to take. I'm going to give it all I've got.

Hopefully, this promise won't go into the bin of broken promises. That thing is overflowing. :p

I just need:

* A halfway decent level editing program

Right now, all I have is:

* Audacity, a great sound-editing program that does so much in so little time.
* DarkBASIC itself.
* Blender, which I'm new to. still learning it.

Just to let you know, the Unreal Dev Kit has been released to the public for free. Unity also has a free version now as well. Both of those threads are on the this board right now. UDK would be a great place to start too, minus any coding since it sounds like you have none. However you can do a lot in Kismet.

Welcome back

to Sid Sinister.

I just read up on Unity, which proclaims to be the most powerful game development tool this side of a million dollars.
As promising as that sounds, I'll have to look and see if this is true, see what it can do for me.
Thank you. It's good to be back.

To Satchmo.

Are there any tutorials for that anywhere? I would appreciate.

These are supposed to be good - haven't had a proper look yet

http://unity3d.com/support/resources/tutorials/3d-platform-game

EDIT: Whoops - oh well the tutorials are still supposed to be alright... Even if it doesn't technically answer your question so much as answer a question I just imagined...

Unity learning experience
Day 3

I recently finished the GUI tutorial and I'm now on the scripting tutorial. So far, I've learned quite a bit from each tutorial, and I'm still learning more as time goes by.

You know, I never thought I would say this, but, I still might have a chance to accomplish what I failed to 11 months ago.

Already, my expectations are set. But I'm trying to make them light and not too lofty. Who knows what might happen.

Unless Blazed666 was talking about himself, the 3 day slap is just.

Because I find what Blazed said quite offensive. Offensive material is NOT tolerated on these forums.

Thanks for the welcome back, Darth.

Bad News for Unity:

I had to take Unity off because dad wanted to put World of Warcraft Back on the computer. With both programs on the computer at the same time, the computer runs horribly. Thankfully though, I'm still able to keep Doom Builder, which I'm using to work on a few WADs...

Fair enough I suppose if you found it to be offensive.

But in his defense he could have been joking?

Anyway I will not argue with you BiggAdd your the mod and,

To Gen. Jackson,
(and anyone else seeking Unity tutorials)

Here's some pages that have a few interesting tutorials. Seems like a great way to get started IMO.

Hey, if you're looking for some stuff to start programming more, I'd suggest that you look at the Dark Game Studio Bonanza, there's a lot of great stuff in that.
