Lmao! i was literally just thinking to myself "Maybe i should start a thread about left 4 dead, it's awesome!"

Left 4 dead 2 is awesome. A lot of people are saying stuff like "It's exactly the same as the last one," but it really isn't. There's loads of new gore effects, more choices in the weapons, and more catch phrases. The music is also a really cool part. It changes quickly and dynamically when there's a horde, when everything is calm, when there's a witch, a tank, or when you're getting pummeled to death

I'm really enjoying it. While the engine doesn't seem to have changed much, the game has really improved. The new special infected have really made the game more challenging, and the map design is far, far better than that of the maps in the first game. I'm also loving the melee weapons, especially the chainsaw and katana.

I managed to play 1 level in the demo without my laptop overheating too much (hardware problem I need to fix (but it could just be dust)...not L4D2's fault)

I felt the engine ran smoother for me than the original Left4Dead, so maybe they've made more optimizations on the engine, rather than adding anything too different.

It seems quite fun...I'll have to convince my classmate to bring in his laptop into Uni so I can give it a proper test run.

I like that it is set during the day as well...too many zombie things are done at night...and well, if zombies did invade, the day wouldn't disappear all together, now would it?

I guess I will have to get it for PC now.

Hi, it’s Robert with Stealthmod! You’ll be saying Stealth every time you use this mod! It’s like CoD! It’s like L4D! It’s like BioShock. A regular mod doesn’t work good – this works good and great.

Its out?

Either way, it looked really good, and a bunch of my friends said the demo was great, so I want it.

I played the 360 demo and it was pretty kicking. I got to play as the coach and felt that I was playing my part well by running around and beating zombies with a guitar! The sound it made was nice. It also seemed that the zombie animations were cleaner and the couple levels I got to play seemed well designed.

There's something in this room that makes you can't speak well.

One thing I noticed about L4D2 is the graphics downfall. From the looks of it, in L4D 1 because everything was set at night, it was hard to notice the low texture quality in the environments, but this new release is completely set in the day time and you can really see some lazy work going into the environment textures.

It is fun, just something that bothered me a bit. It was a little rushed. They say in their interviews they made it so soon because they had so many new ideas they wanted to get out that couldn't get in the first version, but I think its also a little obvious they wanted to rush it out for this christmas to maximize on sales.

I got this one in my Steam account for free (great knowing Valve employees!) but I have yet to try it out. My friend said it's both hilarious and devious.

I'm not going to bother, as we Aussies are getting a really bad censored edition that removes most, if not all, of the gore! Don't think that I'm a sucker for gore, I just hate getting a game that's not really the full thing!

Might import...

What an incredible game. Blows L4D1 out of the water, and that game was pretty great by itself.

I love decapitating zombies with a katana.

I know. It's even more lame when you see the reasons the classification board cite for refusing to classify the regular edition.

But it's the gameplay that counts, right?

O wait, no it's not, it's the awesome gore, like this:

Well...I feel the need to live up to my nationality...I'm English and as an Englishman I have to mock the Aussies on this forum for being Australian and getting the censored version of Left4Dead2

So I think it is a 'ha' followed by another, yet longer pronounced 'ha', isn't it? I've not done it in a while, so please bear with me.

Yes it's still a fantastic game. But the underlying issue here is that ONE man is stopping Australia having an 18 rating for games. So at the moment if it's not suitable for a 15 year old (the highest available ratings for games) then it's gets refused classification. Which means it's banned from sale in Australia but not illegal to own. Either we don't get the game or we get a censored version. In this case we have the censored version which is rubbish.

What I find absurd about this game in particular is that it seems to me that is is no more violent than Fallout 3 or a number of other games which were allowed through. Heck even unedited GTA IV got a 15 rating here.

Preordered the day before it came out, it's bloody awesome. (Quite literally).

Running around with a guitar smashing zombie's heads off while a mix of jazz and oriental plays the familiar L4D theme while spamming Ellis's adrenaline cheek wobble (Wububububububu)

Beat that Modern Warfare 2!

The Aussie version is easily hackable, I have a housemate playing it as WE SPEAK!!

Worst. Review. Ever.

I would ditch a game and never look at it again if that is what it boasted as new features. Is that anything DLC couldn't cover? No way. Luckily, the game is much more than that. Sheesh.

I've only tried the 360 demo, how's it going on the 360? Anyone grabbed it yet? I'm planning on getting it for christmas...

I love the machete personally, that and the combat rifle, and there's not much left...

Also Boomer Bile bombs are awesome, especially when you summon a horde to mosh a tank to death...

Violence isn't the answer, it's the question...

I might be able to test it on my 360 tomorrow (the demo that is)...my parents may (that is only 'may' - if they have time to grab it) bring it up with them tomorrow. (Yay!)

DLC couldn't cover the new gore and stuff. The new see through wounds allow you to see inside or even through zombies. Same deal with the music and sound system that's much improved.

Quote: "No way. Luckily, the game is much more than that. Sheesh."

Not really... it's still pretty much the same game, it's just been improved. It's a sequel that adds to the last game. I'm just saying that I don't notice a huge difference in gameplay, but the improvements that are there are great.

Mayeb I'll get it. One thing that annoyed me with the first is the lack of extra weapons. I'll maybe pick it up after christmas, after I get AC2.

Just managed to download the demo on my XBox 360 and got to play it all of the way through. It seems more enjoyable than the first...I mean beating zombies to death with an electric guitar is fairly cool.

I of felt it was more challenging. It might warrant itself as a sequel, I kind of felt I needed to play more in order to get a better judgment.

At first while playing the demo I thought it was unbelievably like the first one. After I began playing through the release copy, I was pretty excited. I actually enjoyed how the levels flowed together in this one. It was no longer a random collection of scenarios, but an actual story of survivors escaping. I quite enjoyed this game.

Ordered it last week, so it might be here today, but more likely tomorrow. I think it was always gonna be like the first one, there's only so much you can do with survivors and zombies - but that's not a bad thing as long as they improve on what is fun in L4D. It seems like they have though, those new zombies look like great fun, especially the Jockey.

I bought the PC version today and I have the 360 version on the way from England.

I have done the file edit on the PC to unlock the gore but this means I can only play with other people who have done the edit, which isn't that great unless I can find a group of Australian gamers to play with. It also disables achievements, which isn't a big deal but if you are someone who LOVES their achievements it could be a pain.

So if there are any Aussies who want to play using the gore file edit let me know and we can try to set up a time. If anyone else wants to play the game with me let me know and I revert to the boring version.

Apparently there is a way to trick Steam into thinking I'm a UK citizen and buying the game from the UK store! Which means not needing hacks... Maybe worth a try?

Just watched that this weekend. Good film, but I didn't feel the plot developed as much as it could have done - there wasn't so much of a sense of narrative flow.

Yeah I heard if you are gifted the game from overseas or change your ip so steam thinks you are in another country that it will download the unedited version. Although I have heard of some people having their account disabled from having multiple ip addresses (from different countries) used in the space of a few minutes for account sharing.

Movies here are allowed an R18+ classification. Only games are penalized. And it's just one bloody ignorant Attorney General that holds the vote!

Actually at the moment he said he wanted to appeal the classification on CoD:MW2! Says he thinks the rating is too low! But in the same statement he said he was waiting for the Government to finish with the paper on the R18+ rating.

Fingers crossed it's soon!

I remember how to fix the aussie games change the steamappid from 510 to 590 510 means censored. 590 Is the starndered version.

Works with the German version.

No 510 is the uncut version, but you can only play with other people who are '510'...

590 was the demo id, the full version is 550 I believe.
